Hello. I am a mother. I was on the pill for a very long time, got off of it. I got a copper IUD on De 2 of 2012. It was just removed the 21st, along with getting my tubes tied!! Let me tell you my story. It hurt going in, but at first, my cycles were okay, except for the bad cramps. It got worse. The bleeding was so heavy I had to wear a super which I never did in my life, cramps were so terrible I cried, my hair thinned, I had mood swings, I held on to sooo much water, I was gaining weight, then losing it, having two periods a month, moody, sad and depressed, a rash had formed on my shoulder and had some amonia smelling urine and also a strong "irony" odor from my crotch. I lost sex drive, was gaining weight and I work out and eat right. Copper is BAD. I did research and I was happy for the surgery on Friday. I instantly feel relieved but dizzy due to the surgery for the tubes being tied, a few sharp pains from my cervix or uterus, but the light bleeding has stopped. Anyone else get it out? How do you feel after? Did you gain weight with the IUD and why so?? Any vitamins or any advice to help me recoop. I am so relieved. But still concerned about the copper.
