Anyone have any baby names you are tossing around yet?  Ideas?

Sorry, I forgot I like my anonymity for a minute there.

Hubby and I are having a hard time agreeing on any names this time. I think we have a few girl names we like but no solid boy name leads yet.

we've tossed a couple out, but actually had a really hard time on names last time. well--actually we just like 1 name. couldn't even agree on a girl name...and so i just think it was fate that we had the 1 boy name, and the 1 boy. :) this time...we're still at a loss. i think fate will have to step up again! : ) and i keep telling the babe he/she can just go ahead and tell me their name in a dream if they want! that would be easiest!

my husband and I are pretty set on a girls name, but we are undicided for a boys name... We are stuck between grey, landon, and mason.

We are down to 2 for each!

Emersyn or Aspen for a girl, Emerson or Jaxon for a boy

We have one favorite for each girl and boy and one of those is unisex. Then, we have like 10 "ok" names, and an ENORMOUS pile of rejections.

Our criteria are tough though! It's got to:

  • Sound good in Spanish and English (like benjamin-- aka: Ben Ha Min)
  • Have some meaning or connection (heritage, literary, etc.)
  • Not very popular but also not very rare or new (like Logan-- familiar but you don't know many of them)
  • If it's rare or weird, it's got to be easy to spell (like Apple, lol)
  • Short

The first is because we are a bilingual family all together, and the rest are because we both have big, ugly, hard to spell and pronounce last names and we hate having to correct people all the time. We want our kid to have at least one easy name to contend with!

I like your first criteria. My husband and I have the the same criteria, just that it has to sound good in german and english smile.gif

We are still fairly well undecided around here.

For a boy we are leaning toward Tristan Alastair, but I also like the names Charles and Ralph. My other boys are Nicholas and William.
For a girl, SO has always loved the name Tatiana (pronounced Taht-yana). He also likes nature based names. His dd is Ivy. I like the idea, but am at a loss when I try to come up with others.

Haven't even thought much about names yet.  Historically, we've sucked at this part.  for DD#1 we only ever had one name so good thing she was a girl or we'd be scrambling.  DD#2 was born surprise and month early and we had nothing so left the hospital without having named her (not recommended, by the way).  Hubby has decided he wants to name the baby River if it's a boy or girl.  I'm not sure.  I'd like to hear a heartbeat and feel this is a little bit more real before thinking about stuff like that too much.

Startingallover: those are really nice names! They are very melodic. Where did you get Alastair from? It rings some "read it in a book" bell, but I can't remember the book.

Thank you!

Alastair is a Scottish form of Alexander, and there is a lot of Scots heritage in our families. :)

I've heard the name Alastair on Leap Frog. Alastair Alphabelly from one of the letter ones on netflix. LOL

It is cute and classic sounding.

EDIT:

I also know a Scottish pastor with that name, come to think of it.

We have a couple of ideas too. Also a few rules:
1: like cynthiamoon and Inlove, the name needs to be bilingual (English and Hungarian here)
2: easy to spell but not wildly popular; anything in the top 30 is a veto
3: flows with out last name (lots of k, r and t's in there lol)

For a boy we are thinking Thomas (Tommy unless he's in trouble lol) or maybe Matthias. For a girl we are toying around with Lydia or Hannah (the geek in me LOVES the palindrome).

We also have a clause that no name is final until we meet this little person in case it just doesn't fit. We had Kassandra picked out for DD (along with a backup) and as soon as I held her, I whispered "hi Kassie" through the tears. That name fit! Don't know if we will be that lucky next time.
