Oh, my grandmother is a trip! I love her to death, but she is extremely old-fashioned. She thought breastfeeding was evil until my mom breastfed me, then she realized it was "okay"... but she about died when my mom bf'd for 27 months! She also thinks breastmilk is not enough to sustain a baby and babies need rice cereal from day one.. heehee. I didn't even bother arguing with her, I wouldn't have gotten anywhere!

its amazing how the human race has managed to survive as long as it has with all the advice given by mom, MIL, and even grandmas! : i got lucky...my mom and my MIL have never EVER commented about it...my mom was actually in the medical profession and has performed the procedure herself she told me before my first was born that there was no medical reason for it, and if my babe was a boy, that i should leave it alone!

dont worry, your ds will thank you later for leaving HIS penis alone, i mean, after all it IS part of HIS body to do with as HE wants. just because someone is a parent doesnt give them the right to start cutting off parts of their childs body! life threatening situations not withstanding of course.

I really have to stop and wake up when I realize, unfortunately, that the generations before us have been sooo incredibly un-evolved and warped in their thinking about such things as body parts that are essential and god-given in their making in order to PROCREAATE!!!!!! I mean, HOW SAD to not be able to say these WORDS. LIKE, What should happen??? will god strike us with lightening or will we be made infertile or something if we SAY PENIS????
YOu think they would stop and realize the ridulousness of their fear.

It wasn't my grandma, mom or MIL. It was my sister!

Just after ds was born, we were talking about baby things in general. She interupted me and said incredulously, "You did circumise him, didn't you?!" With this "OMG, please tell me you circed him" tone in her voice. I just said, "Why would I cut off a perfectly healthy piece of my baby?" She tried to argue, but I cut her off.

To any gardeners out there, you can imagine my new names for my Lobelia and Climatis. In fact, my dd's pre-k teachers came over and said "Jackie, How are your labia and clitoris doing?" I about died, then I remembered that I had shared my little joke with them last year.

Oh, my, is this the place where I can mention that today, while I was "trimming," I actually clipped my inner labia?!

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just can't imagine sending a newborn for a MAJOR "trim!!!"
Oh... OUCH!!! I have done that before too. I have felt your pain, sorry. We are all here for you in you time of need from the pains of trimming.

Well, thanks, Earthmama!

Tried to warn my 13yo, she told me she doesn't trim "that far down."

When I informed her of the advantages, such as less "pull" during pad changes, she seemed more receptive.

My thought- Holy Moly, have my labia stretched THAT FAR?!!!!!!!!
Well, I can definitely see her being more receptive on that one. That ole' labia its a stretchy one-hehe!
