Cravings? - Page 4

Been craving fried onions which is strange since it was one of the aversions I had in my first trimester. I have been eating them as a side dish...can't get enough!

FarmerMomma, Is oranges dipped in spicy mustard something you eat outside of pregnancy?  I've never heard of that combo!

I don't think I've tried it until recently. We were at the grocery co-op deli and had our sandwiches and I had ordered some extra mustard with mine cause I thought it was a little dry. My son and I were chomping on the oranges when the mustard called to me. All the adults at the table enjoyed the combo.

I can somehow see that working even if a little on the odd side.. I like lots of weird food combos usually but pregnancy is making me boring.. I started magnesium tablets yest and today I had 2 pieces of choc and then I was bored of it so maybe I am just a bit low? Strange.. :P (either that or I'm not hungry :P

I had not one but two dreams about ice cream/frozen yogurt last night when I was napping.  Dreamt both times that while I was napping my husband ran out and got me either jamba juice (a peanut butter moo'd) or red mango frozen yogurt.  You can imagine how sad I was when I woke up and neither was waiting for me.

I've been craving all things banana too.  Work is buying our lunch tomorrow and I'm stoked about grabbing extra fruit.  This kid must be his father's since he wants bananas and apples.  I get lots of kicks when I eat apples.  Fortunately I also get lots of kicks when I eat chocolate too so I know he's also mine.

Amanda, I saw an ad for Skittles last night in which they were a contagious disease ("SkittlePox: Contract the Rainbow/Taste the Rainbow") and thought of you! I hope you can cure your rainbow deficiency soon (if not already).

Bananas make perfect sense as they are high in potassium. I've been taking advantage of the short window our office's weekly order is actually ripe and not bruised and gross to eat 1 or 2 a day.

I would like Chipotle for dinner.  We don't have one here so I am trying to convince myself not to got to Qdoba (the much lesser alternative) but I have a coupon for my bday so that is not helping.

Mmm, I love Chipotle, we actually do design work for them. Hopefully a Chipotle is coming to you soon, they are expanding really fast still!

DH really wanted brownies with ice cream last night and once he mentioned it I had to have it, so while he put DD down, I went and got brownie mix, eggs, ice cream and ended up getting some pullups for DD too at Meijer (BTW Meijer is having a baby sale right now, spend $40 on all huggies or all pampers and get $10 off immediately at the register, going to go back today and stock up on some N/1 diapers for the twins) and then made the brownies and OMG it was heavenly. DH had chocolate syrup on his, I put sprinkles on mine, yum!

YUMMM!  Brownies!!  I was craving chocolate after work the other day, so DS and I whipped some up for dessert after I picked him up from his dayhome a bit early.  It was my first try at "DS friendly" brownies, so they were made with vegan butter, a duck egg, and whole wheat spelt flour mixed with tapioca as substitute.  They turned out pretty well!  DS was funny though, he actually got upset when I poured the batter into the pan and told him it had to get baked, as he thought that the "brownies" were the batter and just wanted to eat that!  Not that I can blame him....

Is "Chipotle" a mexican chain, as the name suggests?  We just got Mucho Burrito here in Canada not long ago, maybe Chipotle is to follow?

Yes!  It's delicious!  About the only "fast" food I will eat anymore.  It's sort of like Subway, but Mexican, if that makes any sense?  You build your own dish as you walk down a line.  Just ate there on Tuesday evening.

Chocolate here too!  I just made some amazing hot cocoa this morning - raw sugar, cocoa, raw milk.  Delectable.  I probably drank about 16 oz!

Yeah, it is Americanized-Mexican food and quite tasty, they are really big on their food quality and taste. There is actually at least one Chipotle in Canada (Toronto I think?) and maybe more, not sure as we only randomly hear about the international Chipotles, they are mostly in the USA. But yes, it is a "quick service" restaurant set up like a Subway where exactly they make your burrito or tacos or whatever from ingredients right in front of you.

Mmmm...chocolate and Chipotle!  Yum!!!

I love Chipotle as well.  They opened one close to my house recently...yay!  My favorite is the veggie burrito bowl...I really like their guac.

As for chocolate, I made some "healthy" chocolate mousse this week.  It was made with silken tofu and you would never know it if I didn't tell you.  winky.gif  Of course, part of the reason why I made it is to use up some whipping cream in the fridge.  It's not exactly healthy once I pile on whipped cream, but I really don't care!

I was curious about chipotle too so I checked their website for locations and they're opening one soon in the next town over, would be fifteen minutes away. I'm excited to try it! The next closest one is over a hundred miles away!

God, my husband is obsessed with Chipotle.  I don't mind it from time to time, but he's a fanatic.  Maybe he's the pregnant one?

Ok, I am officially trying Chipotle on this trip to Palm Springs....sitting in the airport waiting to depart right now and getting hungry...

I mentioned my cravings for sweets? I'm having a major problem with self control/portion size. My son's birthday party was last weekend and we ended up with some extra cupcakes that I'd made. (Homemade buttercream icing...nuff said) I ate 8 in 24 hours, 8! :/ Yesterday I opened a bag of sweetened dried pineapple. Serving size: 5 pieces. My serving size: Entire bag less a small handful I shared with Maddox. I'm also about 3/4s of the way through a bag of Godiva Truffles that I won last night at our battalion's Spouses Coffee. I just need to put them on a high shelf or somewhere inconvenient. Eating one every time I walk by the kitchen island is dangerous.

Luckily, this craving has also been satisfied with a ridiculous amount of fresh fruit! I can't wait until spring when the organic strawberries start looking good again. I've been eating an unreal amount of apples and am ready for some more variety!

well my p.a bought me skittles yesterday.. and they were amazing.. i strongly advise everyone goes out to get some  because they generally helped when i was feeling rubbish!!

Im now craving english chips (the kind u americans all run to find when u come to englad.. :P ) i have a really good old fashioned chipshop about 6 hourses down from my flats so i mite send my p.ato get some when he gets here, im sure its more for the salt then anything else because bp is still on the floor.. therefore its medicine rather then a craving yes? either way.. :P  (is not going to weigh herself for at least another month in order to blame excess weight on baby rather then rediculous fatty cravings!!)

Amen to that!  Eating seasonally with fruit is rough.  Clementines, bananas, and apples.  Love 'em, but I'd kill for some perfect blueberries!

Suddenly, I want citrus!  Had AMAZING fresh squeezed grapefruit juice this morning with breakfast.  I am sure I could have had a litre of it!!
