Any Movement Yet?

This is my 4th pregnancy & it being so I have been expecting to feel SOME kind of fetal movement earlier than before, say around 16 weeks which is probably unrealistic on my part. On Mon. I'll be 19 weeks & there is just nothing going on powerful enough for me to notice. I am steadily getting huge (in part to all of the Dec. feasts)eat.gif so I'm not worried, just let down from what I had psyched myself up for. Is anyone getting flutters yet & where were you when you first felt them?

I'll be 19 weeks on Tuesday and I have yet to feel anything yet either. dizzy.gif

But this is my first pregnancy so I'm trying to be patient. I have an ultra sound on Thursday so it will be nice to see baby moving and reassure me he/she is there.

This is my third pregnancy and I felt movement at 12 weeks - but it was stronger that week than it has been since. I have days where she's super quiet and other days (not as frequent) where she's busy. I have an anterior placenta, though, so I'd probably be feeling more if I didn't.

I felt my second consistently at 16/17 weeks - but I think that's a little earlier than average. Twelve weeks this time was unreal. I almost didn't believe it myself, but it was distinct.

With my first I felt a distinct movement at 13 weeks--it felt like someone running their fingernail up the inside of my uterus. After that the movements only got stronger and more distinct, she was an active little bugger. And a night owl! (Still is) Often after I'd gone to sleep, DH would lie in bed poking at my belly while DD poked back at him.

So I expected to feel this one soon as well, and it took a little longer. I'm 15 weeks now and I've felt a few thumps here and there, but nothing like with DD and nothing steady or constant. It happens usually after a run when I'm stretching (and probably squeezing the little one in there!) and sometimes while I'm lying in bed. I sometimes put my hand on my belly and will the baby to move, but it never works. But once Ela was talking to my belly, saying HI BABY BROTHER! And I felt a solid thump, which was kinda cool. Maybe she's right that it's a boy?  ;)

With DS I felt faint movements around 15 to 16 weeks, and with this one it was closer to 14 weeks, which is amazing to me.  In that early phase I can only feel the movement in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.  During the day it's much too subtle to notice.  I don't remember when I started feeling regular movement with DS exactly...I think DH couldn't feel him kick until almost the 3rd trimester.  This time I can feel movement during the day now (at 17-18 weeks).  Bean actually tends to move at particular times of the day, usually times when I am laying down (putting DS down for nap, for bed at night), then once or twice at regular times through out the day.  I swear I can feel Bean move with my hand now, but DH can't feel it.  I'm hoping that DH and DS can feel it soon though!

I have been feeling movement for a few weeks now. I am around 18 weeks. Usually at night when I am laying in bed.

I've felt a few jabs here and there but it's hard to be sure it's fetal movements and not gas or something. I swear I could feel my DS by now and they were distinct butterfly flutters and I felt them all the time throughout the day but especially at night. It was before I was showing at all which made it even more weird! (first pregnancy). I went in Friday for a doppler just to reassure myself that there was still a heartbeat! Glad I'm not alone out there in needing reassurances!

I thought I felt something the last few weeks but I couldn't really be sure. This week they seem to be more stronger and distinct (though today has been a quiet one). I tend to feel them when I'm standing at work or laying down at night. last week if felt like a little bit of bubbles or something (easy to write off as gas) but this week right in the center of my belly I get this squiggly feeling. People describe it as butterflies or flutters or cute things but I liken it to feeling like I have a giant alien worm parasite rolling around in there. It's weird! ha ha. Hope I didn't gross anyone out, it's just a strong squiggly feeling. I'm 16 weeks and a bit.

Ha ha, I have heard that moms of twins describe their flutters as "octopus like", are you twinning Nattery?  I'm going to have a prenatal w/ a midwife in 2 weeks & maybe get to hear something on a doppler so I'm excited about that. I'm big & in the maternity clothes but w/out the moving I don't "feel" pregnant. More patience needed I suppose.

Voondrop - Nope! I have just one in there (as per my early ultrasound and 2-3 appointments listening to the heartbeat). I blame it all on my husband. He has the fastest metabolism of anyone I have ever met, and has ADD to boot... so high high high energy and constant motion. Doesn't seem like his spawn is that far off. Ha ha.

Funny you mention that, my DS has ADHD and my brother said maybe it made him an early mover. He certainly never stopped moving after birth!! As soon as I felt him it kept up, not like what I'm feeling now. Sort of what you said, a slithery worm like feeling here and there or a jab but then days of nothing.

I've thought I've felt a few little scratches here and there and I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow with a second baby.  The 12 week sonogram showed an anterior placenta, so that affects how soon I'll feel movement.  I've had two doppler heartbeat checks since the ultrasound and both have picked up nada, so I understand wanting some reassurance! Fortunately I can tell I'm getting bigger and I'm still barfing, so that's reassuring (?).  nut.gif

Ugh!  Worms and snakes are my biggest phobia!!  I hope my first recognized movements aren't likened to a squirmy worm.  I'll take the cute fluttery descriptions!

Had my first flutters last week. Took me a few times to be sure because the first two times was in the shower. Then finally when I was sitting down for a meal on Sunday. It's weird though, because I am not showing much, 14 weeks, I'm surprised to feel anything.

This is my third, and I started feeling movement at 14/15 weeks. He or she is kicking away right now!

I'm 18 wk and started feeling bumps with my hand about a week ago!!! Not a lot of movement before that, some flutters at 14 and 16 wkish. Loving to be able to feel "him".

I haven't noticed any "convicing" movement yet.  Though twice now I have felt a "pop", like of a bubble.  It was distinctly not gas.  I've not felt that since Saturday, though.  So ... maybe?

Likewise, Spotty--- I'm *maybe* feeling some movement every few days or so. Fuzzy little tickles!

I like "fuzzy little tickles!" That's exactly what it feels like at first.  Whenever I start to feel those, I take note, but I don't say I feel movement until there gets to be a pattern to it.  Then I go back to when I first felt the tickles and say that's the beginning of the movement.

I think so much depends on the position of uterus, location of placenta, location of the baby, and personality of the baby.  I'm not sure what is different exactly with this BabyGirl, but she is MUCH feistier than DS was.  I attribute that to why I felt movement so early.  She is so active...and she is sideways, so I don't know if that makes a difference, but I think it does.  Her head is on my right side most of the time, so her feet are kicking like crazy on my left.  I'm not sure that I would feel it as much if she were positioned differently.  I can feel her kicking in other places too now, (pretty much all over - already getting bladder kicks, kicks to my intestines, punches up at the top of my uterus), but she always settles back to laying lateral.  I think this is going to start hurting later!

I just felt another little bubble pop sensation!
