mama cloth in the hospital?

a thread in Diapering got me thinking....

i'm planning on using mama cloth for the entire postpartum period (i already have all cloth menstraul pads). i just found some midwives in the area who may be able to attend my birth (so i'd be able to have a home birth, which i'm hoping for), however, if i end up having a hospital birth should i plan to not use the mama cloth in the hospital? i'd hate to think i'd have to put up with those awful disposable pads for any amount of time again.

** i'll probably ask this when i tour the local hospital maternity ward, too... but wanted to get opinions here first!

If you tend to yourself and do not expect them to mess with the cloth, i don't see how it would be any more of an issue than if you use cloth on your baby in hospital. I plan on doing the same thing next time!

I used their pads for the first 4-8 hours or so...then my own pads. I sent them home with my mom and DH for laundry. I was there a long time before and after so I had a laundry system for bras, underwear, pjs...so pads were no big deal. Have a lot of pads in case your flow is very heavy, so you can go 24 hours. Probably you'd only need to do once was before you got out. I didn't go through that many, because I had a C I think...though I still bled for like 4-6 weeks. I was just not in physical condition to change diapers at all for a few days, so I did not CD until we were home.

Docs and nurses esp liked my tiger striped flannel prettypad.
