Mrs. Floyd, know the tip wasn't meant for me in particular, but thanks for the tip about MFP. I just set up a profile with them and I already like it better than "Lose it." Much better for pregnancy especially.

I love it! I was using CalorieCount before, but I like this more. But man, I consume WAY too much sugar, and I'm not even indulging my sweet tooth!! How do I manage to get up to 100g of sugar in one day?! Actually, no. I know--I did drink juice, which isn't common for me (but it is something we give DD every day, eep!)  I just never realized how much sugar was in it! BAD MAMA. V8 Fusion Tropical blend--it's supposed to be a fruit/veggie blend which I guess is why I felt ok with it, gotta get those veggies in any way we can. But at 25 grams of sugar for one 8 oz cup? No thanks! I guess we'll be buying the "light" version from now on? I also had a few mini Luna bars after my run. And I didn't realize there is a lot of sugar in milk, I guess I should have but I didn't. Gotta work on that.

dayiscoming2006 - Yay I'm glad you like it!  Beware though, if you get into the forum area it gets crazy in there.  LOL!  There are a couple of pregnancy groups though and you might enjoy those discussion areas as well.

kitteh - girl I changed my food diary settings and just took the sugar tracking off completely.  LOL!  I figure it's already included in the carbs (which I do still track) and I just decided to not stress over it personally.

I think I might do the same. I'm not even indulging my sweet tooth and I'm SHOCKED by how much I go over on sugar! It seems like it is in EVERYTHING. I had a mean sweet tooth that I DID indulge the first time around, I wonder what kind of sugar intake I had back then! On second thought, I don't even wanna know.

I just had my 20 wk check up today (even though I am 20 wks 5 dys ... details) and I'm up 9 lbs now.  I'll take it.

As for the sugar we intake w/o even knowing it ... YUP!  Its a-larming.  I don't mind the sugars I am consuming in fruits and vegetables or even my (almond) milk.  Its the refined sugars in processed foods and baked goods that I try to avoid ... "try" being the operative word.

Speaking of sugar: Until just last week, sweet things totally didn't do it for me. Not only was I not interested, they simply turned my stomach. Ice cream? No thanks. Cookies? Made me feel gross. But suddenly that's starting to change.... and my sweet tooth is definitely coming around. (Oh noes!!!)

I've only indulged in ice-cream twice this entire pregnancy, but I've found the 1/4 pint ice-creams to be a lifesaver. I think they come in Ben and Jerry's, HaagenDaz, and Eddy's. Buying these mini-pints is certainly not as economic as buying the bigger version, but when I have a craving that I just HAVE TO indulge.... it's much safer to go through one of those single servings than it is to risk bringing an entire container into the house... just a tip I thought I'd share

So far I'm right on with Spotty. 21 weeks and some change and up 9 lbs. Appetite is definitely increasing, though, and I'm hoping I can keep this weight gain nice and steady! So far so good.

Any who. Onwards with the gestating! <3 to you all.

Hi All! I just weighed in at my appointment at 155, so up another 7 pounds in the past month! yikes2.gif

My (and DS's) immunity has been so cruddy, I finally "had it" and have been going to town getting back on track to a more "strict" Paleo/GAPS diet.  Technically I was pretty much still eating "legal" foods, but I was tending more towards the quick and more processed versions of things, which was likely contributing a lot to our fatigue and recurrent colds. So, I have been hunkering down in my kitchen making ferments and I also hit up a couple local farms for their pastured meats.  It's been woooonnnderful! I feel a lot better, and DS has been cold free for like, two weeks now! It's so much better.

I was curious about my food intake too, so I've been keeping a food diary, and looking at sugar I eat about 20g per day (more if I am indulging in my sweet tooth, less if I'm being good).  DS a little more because he's into carbs right now, but overall we are low, which is good.

I have a feeling that the weight will just keep chugging along too - I just keep getting hungrier, lol!

Happy Gestating!

I find myself getting hungrier and hungrier too! Like, waking up in the middle of the night to pee and can't fall back asleep for an hour because my stomach is growling so bad. So far I have resisted eating in the middle of the night, but I might not be able to hold out much longer.

Weighed myself today and I'm up 2 lbs since last week. Eep! I also took my measurements and my boobs, butt, and belly are all up a half inch. Getting ROUNDER!

Oh I caved on that one a long time ago shy.gif  I don't eat a big meal or anything, sometimes it's just a nice glass of milk or cereal or a hard boiled egg but if I don't eat something in the middle of the night I can hardly get out of bed in the morning.

I'm thinking of hard boiling a few eggs to have on hand for those late-night hunger pangs. My usual inclination is to have a bowl of Kix, but I'm trying to stay away from overloading on carbs so I think that's why I've resisted eating anything in the middle of the night. But maybe a handful of almonds or a hard boiled egg would be a good substitute.

I'm already up 20 lbs at 22 weeks.....  I only wanted to be up 10 lbs at this point.  I'm trying to not stress about it, but I'm so darned hungry all the time!  I've cut back on carbs substantially, but the scale keeps going up.  I weigh myself daily still, but its stressful.  My original goal was to not go over 25 lbs for the entire pregnancy, but now it is 40 lbs....  eat.gif

Definitely try not to stress! You are obviously pretty mindful of what you are putting into your body, and that's the most important part ;)

I agree with Babysmurf. Between that and trying to squeeze some activity in to your schedule (walking, yoga), I think you're just fine. Even if you gain more than you originally planned, these habits will help you recover on the other side.  thumb.gif

Hovering at a gain of 8 lb at 22 weeks. I had gained 10 by 12 weeks, but a lot must have been water because by 16 it was 8 and now at 22 it is still about 8. I am just eating when hungry and I know I am indulging a bit, but I guess I'm doing alright!

I just signed up for a prenatal yoga class on Monday evenings, so that adds one more day of exercise for me. I must admit that I indulged in too many Valentines day treats at work today :/
post #116 of 191

OMG talk about indulging in too many Valentines treats. I actually did pretty well resisting on Valentine's Day itself, but I got a lot of chocolates and sweets from students and like an idiot I actually took most of them home with me. Which was the worst idea ever, hello? I've awakened the beast! lol. Not only have I been over-indulging the sweet tooth these past 5 days, I've also found myself giving in to my cheesy, greasy cravings too! (Eg. today we ate at PF Chang's and I ordered the Salmon with asparagus... but started out with the fried crab rangoons. And I ate one of DH's ribs. And we split half of a Great Wall of Chocolate cake. Oh, and we had a giant piece of chocolate cake last night too! It's DH's birthday week, and I always have loved a good excuse to overeat!)

On top of that, I also had a really disappointing last week, exercise-wise and clocked my lowest mileage running this pregnancy. So I'm feeling a bit blah.  To top it off, I decided to measure myself tonight (because really? that's a great idea after a really bad week! What am I, a masochist? lol) and I've started to gain weight in my thighs and backside and it's really BUMMING ME OUT (see what I did there? Hurrr)

Anyhow, I'm here to make sure that I keep myself accountable and don't let 5 bad-habit days overflow into a whole bad-habit month, or months. I went to YogaWorks today to sign up for a free unlimited week promo, and I tried a 1.5 hour prenatal class. I plan to buy a package of 20 classes so I can go 1-2 times a week from here on out. I'm also planning to kick up the running a bit and get back to my usual 15-20 miles over 4 days a week thing. Oh, and the rest of the sweets and chocolates are getting evicted from my home tomorrow.

Back on the wagon, so to speak.

Good job getting back to it Kitteh. I've had times like that where I just fell off the wagon as you put it. LOL

It's good you recognized it and are getting back on task. I couldn't run like you, good for you. I stick with lower impact workouts. I think if you are keeping active and eating mostly healthy you are fine. The only thing that actually stuck out for me was a bit of overeating, but the slightly less exercise didn't sound that bad. Don't beat yourself up over it. :)

I had my first prenatal yoga class last night and I really liked it once we got into it.  It started off a bit slow with lots of seated stretching, etc.  But, I felt GREAT after the class.  I wish I could find a place in my city that has a place where you can do unlimited (prenatal) yoga sessions.  There are places that have unlimited but it is bikram and power vinyasa (not happening- too out of shape and belly too big).  I haven't had any sweets since valentines day and am back on track with good eating and juicing, but I'm up another 2 lbs so I'm +22 at 23 weeks......  *sigh*  lurk.gif

I'm up 24 at 20 weeks... sad. I am trying to keep in shape and trying to eat healthy and not overeat. I don't feel like I am overeating or anything, so maybe I'm just doomed to gain more than I would like. Well, I know I am because I was hoping I wouldn't gain more than 30, and that's just not going to happen now.

So, funny story....We just had a nice little snow storm and our entire area lost power, except for my aunts house (thank goodness!!) since she is on the same grid as the power plant.  So DH, DS, MIL, and I, and a host of other people headed over with blow up mattresses and perishables and went to hunker down at her place.  My cousin was there with her twin boys who were born 5 days after my son.  When she saw me, she said "Wow!! You look huge compared to last time!! I mean, really, especially for only being 24 weeks (at the time)!".  I was like great, thanks!! LOL.  The funny thing is though, that I am showing almost the same as I was before...it just goes to show how quickly we forget how much space is takes to grow a baby! So when people comment about our sized, remember, that they just have a bad memory.  What's even funnier about her size comment to me was that when I was carrying DS, I had a bigger belly than she did, and she was carrying twins....she must really think I look huge!! LOL!  I have gained almost 30 pounds so far...which is also about the same as last time, even though I started off heavier before.
