I'm at +42 lbs at 35.3 weeks. I can tell that I'm retaining a lot of water in my legs. I feel fantastic and blood pressure has been perfect, no protein in urine- so I'm not worried about weight- it will come off eventually.

Kitteh, I am also only up 21 lbs at the same gestation. My Dr is not concerned, though, since baby appears to still be growing per fundal height measurements. I guess its an example that a baby is a true parasite ... growing at our expense.

Jnajla, I am also getting slight ankle swelling when I am too sedentary. Where did my ankle bones go?! LOL. after a bit of walking, though, most of the swelling is alleviated with increased circulation.

That happens to me too, but mainly in the calves. I have to make sure I get up and move around regularly to avoid it.

Yeah, my midwife is happy with my weight gain, and said that I'm measuring two weeks ahead, so baby is definitely thriving. But I was surprised by the urgency of my hunger this morning, and the strange jittery sweaty feeling that accompanied it. Cereal with milk is an ok mix of protein and carbs, right? Usually i would've tried to ignore the middle of the night hunger pangs, but this time I didn't and I STILL had that strange, intense NEED to eat. I've been giving in to some of my junky cravings much more lately--milk shakes and oreos and pastries. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

I'm somewhere around 18 pounds at 34 weeks. At my 32 week appt. fundal height was 33cm, so baby definitely seems to be growing on track.  I've also been hit with intense hunger pangs in the last few days.  I attribute the hunger to eating smaller meals in my quest to avoid reflux and also that we're heading into the final growth spurt for baby to put on weight before delivery.

Kitteh - funny, Kix+milk has been my snack of choice for the past few weeks as well! And now, 3 hours after dinner I'm hungry AND having reflux. And I'm out of cereal. greensad.gif

My weight gain is between 18 and 19 lbs and I'm 37.5 weeks. My belly size is on target and all my other indicators are normal. I notice that my weight sometimes gets higher if I'm better hydrated and is lower if I'm dehydrated. I have no swelling at all so far--so different from my last pregnancy when I gained 30#, and both the baby and I lost a ton of water weight post-birth. I'm a good eater usually but don't have a huge appetite this time around. My midwife wondered whether it might be because my diet is unusually nutrient rich. I hope that's the case. She estimates the baby will be around 6.5-7 lbs, smaller than my first.

I quit looking at the scale after I hit the big 50 last week. Dr.'s not worried, I'm not worried, just quit looking yummy.gif  It's ALL baby.

I've been getting "cankles" as well....usually on the days I work from home.  My Midwife says it's water and toxin retention so I have to drink more fluids.  I've switched to drinking coconut water mixed with water (50/50) and that seems to do the trick.  Also trying to keep my feet up.

Last week, I was 37 weeks along, measuring at 38 weeks, and had dropped a pound since the previous week.  Apparently weight fluctuations are normal during the 3rd trimester and the measurements are key to determining baby's growth.  I believe my total weight gain is approximately 25 lbs.

The water weight isn't in my lower legs or ankles, it's mainly thighs. I've been moving non- stop for past few weeks. I blame the salty dips from my baby shower... lol

My weight gain seems to have leveled off for the past month or so - I am about even, keeping me at about a 40 pound gain...exactly the same pattern as with DS.  So weird!

My MW said that the pressure from the babies prevents our lymph nodes from being able to drain properly, which can result in swollen ankles, etc.  Laying on your side will alleviate the pressure (as opposed to keeping your feet up, which still keeps pressure on the vessels).  That and drinking plenty of water.  Last time I was pretty swollen at this point, but this time, I think they still look normal? It's hard to tell.
