My BMI was hovering around the normal/ overweight mark at 24.5/25 when I got pregnant but I had just lost 40 lbs and I was taking ADHD medication (I've realized that over the course of my pregnancy that I don't need ADHD medications, and basically all it did for me was induce anxiety and help me lose weight) so when I went off of the medication, I got my appetite back, and my pregnancy appetite kicked in and I gained 12 lbs my first month of pregnancy. Now I'm up about 46 lbs at 38 weeks and I'm ok with it. I gained a little more than I wanted to, some of it went to my hips and butt, but I'm very confident that with breastfeeding and once I can start weight training again that I'll get back down to pre-preg weight within a few months. By the time I deliver, I'm guessing that it will be a total of 50 lbs. My ob said that it's too much, but since my b/p is perfect, no GD, or any other issues, she isn't going to consider it a problem. If I ever have another baby, I'm going to be diligent to not gain so much in the 1st and 2nd tri, because that is when I gained the bulk of my preg weight. Live and learn, I guess.

Well, it pretty much confirms what I strongly felt already. I'm just bummed about losing the surprise factor. I'm not going to tell my husband or anyone else though, and I'm going to try and put it out of my head and just be surprised to meet this little person, whoever they are!
eta: I was just reading your last post jnajla, and I think you're just fine. I remember how skinny my sister got when she was on ADHD meds - it was scary, and she definitely put on weight when she went of them. Sounds like you got a normal healthy appetite back, and your body is doing well. I really believe our bodies know how to take care of us!
i gained between 18 and 20 lbs eating to hunger (only very nutrient rich foods, though) and my babe at term was 7lb 14oz, same as my last babe, and I gained 30 lbs on a less healthy (but still very good, no added sugar) with that pregnancy. Both babies were very healthy at birth. I was very thin to begin with this preg (bmi 18.5, bmi aound 24 for the previous preg.) Shows we're all different and all pregnancies are different.
