Bedsharing/co-sleeping advice please?

Thread Starter

I have to have a latex/memory foam mattress for my back problems, we have one of those mattresses which is springs on the bottom with memory foam on the top layer. I'm just not sure if this is safe for a baby, and I'm kind of guessing its unsafe :( but if it is unsafe is there another way to co sleep, I mean I saw something about bedside cribs/cots but they look awfully dangerous to me, and it's very worrying. I am totally new to this, so I'm really looking for some gentle advice. I'm sorry if my questions sound stupid I'm very new to this whole thing and just want some facts and advice. Please be gentle with me. :)

^ Both good resources.

You need a firm mattress for baby. If you can push down into then it is not safe because it can cause baby to roll into you.

I think an Arm's Reach or something similar is probably as safe as any other crib if used properly.

I do not recommend the use of baby positioners in your bed since baby can turn into it and become trapped.
