Thanks for sending the beads out!

So... any tips on how to make a necklace? :) I've never made (beaded) anything before.

I'm going to have my mom help me (because she has beading tools), but without going into too much detail, in case anyone wants to be surprised by the beads, I'm going to get some little spacers and put them between each of the beads, and... not sure what else. My mom showed me how to make charm-type thing of Ironmam's beads, which was/is pretty cool, so I'm going to do that with those. I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to arrange them, but... I'm super excited to mess around and figure it out. biggrinbounce.gif

No worries Rainey, I'll PM you my address. I'd love to have as many beads to add to the necklace as possible!

Do you have a Michael craft store or something similar? They usually have a decent section of beads and supplies and usually inexpensive instruction booklets with ideas and such.

You can also do a search in the March group for "Bead Results" or something similar and look at the awesome necklaces & bracelets they came up with!

If you would want to send them individually, that would be fine (as long as no one else objects), or if you want to send them to me, and I'll send them out, that would work, as well. I'm with firespiritmelody, I'd like to have as many to add as I can (as well as get to have as many people participate as possible.) Just let me/us know the plan! orngbiggrin.gif

Ooh, I'm super excited!  Thanks so much, Bethany!

Okay, here are some pictures I've found of ideas that I think I might try:

http://herbangirl.blogspot.no/2011/08/birth-beads.html

This is a pair of earrings, but I've been doing a lot of wire wrapping, so I might make a wire pendant and wrap it with beads something like this:

a simpler wrapped style:

You can find tutorials to do this online, but it's pretty easy.

Got my beads today! They are so beautiful! Thanks, Mamas and thanks Bethany for organizing this!

Now I'm wondering who sent what? Mine is the squarish, green, crystally one.

I just got mine! Thank you ladies so much! I read the notes, and immeaditly started crying. I cannot put into words what this means to mean! Thank you BMcNeal for organizing all of this! Such an amazing thing to do. The beads are all so pretty!

RaineyDaye, I can pm you my address if you would like. I can also pick up a couple beads for you as well, if you haven't gotten some yet so you have them for your own necklace. Just let me know! smile.gif

Got mine :) I sent the white ones with the red oriental-ish design on them, and the clear-ish ones with the rose pattern in them.

I sent the vintage Czech glass acorns. Sorry they're so small. I ordered them online without paying attention to the fine print on their size. Lol.

But I thought acorns were a good symbolic choice for our babies and their potential as they become grown people.

The beads arrived in the mail today. I love the colors! And the notes. Lovely everyone: thank you. The bead I picked out was the white circle. It reminded me of the cherry blossoms that bloom in April.

I can't wait to see what everyone designs!

They're so cute!! I'm not sure how I'll incorporate them, but I have a couple of ideas!

The acorns are the ones my mom showed me how to turn into charms, kind of, and I really like that idea, so I think I'm going to do that. Just not sure how to put them all together just yet. (I have ideas. I'm going to probably work on mine this weekend, after I get DD some pony beads to make things with, since she wants beads, too. <3 )

Yay beads! I was so thrilled when I opened the package - the beads are all amazing and lovely! I'm very grateful to all of you.

The beads I sent are white with a blue design. I chose them for a few reasons. First, they're ceramic, made from material from the earth, and I like the symbolism of that: a lump of earth was made into this beautiful object, and we are also from the earth and beautiful!

I like the design, too. Some have birds, and others are more abstract, but they all have a "traditional" look to me. (Disclaimer: I have no idea whether or not the patterns on the beads really are traditional designs from any actual culture!) They help me remember that women have been having babies since the beginning of time, and I'm part of that long, rich history.

And blue is my favorite color, so... there's that. :)

Thank you all again for your beautiful beads! Hope you all have great births!

I'm sending the last packet of beads out today.

I had pooled all the shipping money together, so I don't know what anyone sent individually (sorry!) but if you'd like your change, let me know how much you sent, and I'll send it to you.

Also, some mamas sent extra beads, and if you'd like them back, let me know (as well as which beads you sent. I remember who sent some of them, but not all of them), and I'll send those back as well.

I'm sorry I've been so late sending out this last packet. I've had them for a few days, but was trying to find everyone's address again. (The kids might have gotten a little overzealous when I said throw everything away... redface.gif )

I don't know what the shipping ended up costing you but I certainly don't expect any change back!! Thank you for organizing!!
