Thought I might like it, went to the blog,  NOPE...  besides having no idea what its true purpose is??  I think I could seriously injure myself in something like that or just getting dressed.  LOL.

I made a little almost reversible (the zipper doesn't truly reverse but the fabric does because there are no seams inside.

I am trading this and another zippered pouch still unmade to another woman who is making airplane thank you cards for me with her Sizzix die cutter.  I love trading for things I can't make for myself.

39/52: Cake for a friend's birthday.

Haven't done any sewing for a while. I got a sudden obsession with bread-baking instead.

I hate red heart super saver yarn.  I am on a spending freeze right now so I'm making due with what I have but OMG as soon as I get some money I NEED YARN....

That cake is awesome!

Yep, it's fondant. Pale green, though you can hardly tell from the photos. I've admired ruffle cakes for ages and decided to give one a go. Time-consuming, but not difficult.

Mmmm cake.  I've no patience for making cakes that pretty, well done!

I've been working on things here and there.  Nothing finished.  We went on a little vacation that kind of threw everything off for a while.  I've still got several summer type sewing projects I wanted to finish, and here it is nearly September!  I did put a little bag of yarn scraps together to make blanket squares.  I felt like I needed to move some scraps, and I often waste good crafting time because I don't have anything easy to grab.  Blanket square bag to the rescue!  I've nearly finished 3 (double layered) squares.  Too bad I just ordered 6 more balls of yarn :P  I had a sudden urge to decorate my legs for the coming cooler weather, so naturally, I've decided to make cabled thigh-high stockings.

Me = wild.gif

Also, I might have to make myself a garter belt...

The project I am currently working on is painting my DD crib. We bought a beautiful white baby crib from bambi baby and I decided that I wanted to paint a nice design on it. I was thinking different types of flowers. Definitely yellows and greens to match the nursery room theme. My family really likes sunflowers so I might stick with a sunflower theme.

I feel like such a bum compared to you ladies.  I haven't sewn anything in a week.  I think tomorrow I will have time to sew- I hope anyway.  I have been in food preservation mode of course.  So my pantry is looking awesome :)  I have 9 qts of marinated feta that is just beyond gorgeous.  I have loads of butter stashed in my freezer.  Mozz in the freezer.  Cheddar and Parmesan in my cheese fridge and the fixings for making brie- well except for something to mold it in.  I have canned 98 qts of green beans.  This is food crafting right- lol?

I would like to make some cute maternity skirts tomorrow too....  I hate all my clothes.  20 weeks and I am getting huge and feel gross.  You would think I would have enough maternity clothes- but apparently not.

iowaorganic, I am totally with you on the need for some cute maternity clothes. I have some material to make some church clothes since what is out there is "eww, I would never wear that in public, it is ugly."

Snort! Yeah, you're a real slacker. Enjoying those bonbons and soap operas? lol.gif

I'm taking another point for two cakes I did today, bringing me up to 40/52. This has been an unexpectedly cakey week.

There was this one:

which is a very limey, coconutty layer cake for a friend's baby's birthday. (The baby won't be eating the cake - I think her mum just wanted an excuse!)

And then I did another one I didn't bother photographing, but it was pleasing enough - a Texas chocolate sheet cake done as two round layers with jam and cream between and chocolate icing on top (tarted up with leftover S-spirals from the first cake). It was for a friend who just had a baby, because I have decided it should be a rule from now on that if you have a baby, you get cake.

Cute maternity clothes are worth their weight in gold psychologically, I think. I had one top I really liked with DS. Looking back it wasn't even that flattering, but it was better than all my other options. :p I had grand plans to make beautiful Empire-waist underdresses with open-fronted overdresses to change them up. Didn't. Shoulda.

Working on a latch hook kit here...I cant focus again and this seems mindless.

I like this rule!  My mom and 3 yo made a cake together to keep busy the day I had ds2.  I had the supplies set aside in case ds needed to be occupied during labor, but he ended up sleeping through the whole thing, so they made it while I was laying in bed snuggling the new little guy.

That's it. I shall demand cake. To go with my steak smile.gif. I ripped apart two pairs of awful maternity jeans and a skirt and turned them into a below the knee and a long skirt. Both are awesome. So much better than what they were before. I did work some on the quilt but it was mostly ironing and it was hot so I made more feta instead. Then dh took me fabric shopping smile.gif. So I bought somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 yds of knits smile.gif. I shall post pics when I have those figured out....

Hi, Ladies.  I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping up with you all while on a darn sewing room hiatus most of this year.  UGH I have been doing all my making in the kitchen instead and am now determined to have simpler dinners and lose weight and spend my creativity somewhere else than in the kitchen! So I plan to catch up!  Iowa you are pregnant again, Congratulations!  Holy Wow I don't understand how you keep on making stuff too.  Your house must be perfectly childproof!  I haven't been in my sewing room because I have to keep a close eye on my baby who climbs on and gets in to everything.

I didn't look through all the pages because this computer is crawling slow, but I saw some gorgeous cakes and impressive knitting.  I am so glad to see that you all have been busy!

Zebra, can you make something fun if you have only one skein of a yarn?  I have a drawer full of stuff, but most of it is just 1 ball.  I seem to not be much of a knitter LOL and would love to have space in that drawer, so I'll send you happy mail if you wanna pm your addy. :)

Anyway, I'm excited to be working in my sewing room again and want to get busy in there most days.  My DH has a plan for building me a half door for the doorway so I can monitor children in the playroom but still be blocked off from them; I hope it will work!

I can claim points:

whipped up a back door curtain to replace the one i never loved, using 11 UFO blocks from my great grandmother's sewing box, and her scraps to make one more to match...then 3 other, smaller, UFO blocks of hers, too...with a money green sheet and cord scrap to make a back door quilt curtain that I do love.

used a scrap piece of an old quilt to make a padded shoe bag for m-i-l's suitcase, as a gift.

soap- individually scented bars from a 2 lb glycerine loaf.  i LOVE the one using cinnamon and DIY Thieves EO blend.  Mmmm, and "Flower Child" blend, with geranium, ylang ylang, lavender, clove bud smells so sweet.  I want to get 10 lbs to make for the closet and christmas gifts for everyone on my list.

i repurposed what was a half finished corduroy quilt top UFO into a pillow for DH's couch after he told me the other patchwork cord pillow i made him is his favorite pillow ever, it will be one of many birthday presents for him.

finished up 3 mama pads i cut out forever ago.

This brings me to 11 points.

now i'm working on a blue haired dolly for a little friend.  her wig is complete, her dress halfway, and i have drawn about 25 faces but not hers yet, apparently.

41/52: Pair of knit rompers for DD. Not my best work. I had to sew the waist elastic in from the wrong side, while stretching it against the knit fabric, and it went all wonky. If I make them again I'll length the torso slightly and make a casing - it'd be comfier, too. I'll be interested to see if DD loves or hates them!

Finished blouse:

AppleMark

There are some kinks that need to be worked out with the pattern, but I still love the way this turned out!  The fabric is prone to wrinkling as  you can probably tell, but it has just the right amount of body for the collar to stand just right.  Also, I worked the princess seam's ease in opposite directions (whoops), so one side is wrinklier under the bust, though you can't see it in the photo.  I will definitely be making this pattern again, this short sleeve version only takes 1 yard if the fabric is 58" wide.  I have a lot more of the fabric I made this one out of, it was only $2/yard or something, and I am in love with the color.  Not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it, it's pretty stiff for anything besides button-downs.  Maybe a long sleeve version of this for the colder months?

Oh, and I finished the last curtain (that we actually bought fabric for).  It's not hanging yet, but that's dh's job, so I'm counting it done :P
