I thought we might like to get each other through our appointments and share our news at each one. Here is mine for today: Rainbow Baby Kelly update- All looks good so far. I was a little nervous when I saw my progesterone dropped, but the nurse said it was fine because it will fluctuate and it was well above 20 which is what they want to see. My Estradiol nearly doubled too (yay!) and my TSH is around 2 which is great for pregnancy. It was more than double that with the boys at this point last year.

I didn't share my betas as those were from a while ago, but first one was 79 (12/21/12) and the second was 204 (12/24/12).

post #9 of 6421/1/13 at 12:33pmIt must be different here in Scotland because I don't get my first midwife appointment until 8 to 10 weeks, and I won't get a scan until 10 to 12 weeks. But I will be getting my urine test results on Friday to officially confirm the pregnancy! I hope it's all good.

My midwife's office generally doesn't see you until 7-8 weeks, but with my history of miscarriages and my ectopic, they will take bloodwork to check beta levels. Hoping to go in tomorrow and then probably Friday for the recheck. I have to call in the AM.

I did IVF and I'm high risk so I'm more highly monitored than many. My first ultrasound is at just shy of 7 weeks. They will do at least one more at 9 weeks before they release me to a perinatologist.

I'm not sure of my last period. That's the only reasonI'm getting them. They don't want to do an ultrasound if they can't see anything, so they do the betas to get an idea of when to schedule the ultrasound.
My last pregnancy, I didn't get am ultrasound or anything until 20 weeks... And my first appointment was at 9w.post #13 of 6421/1/13 at 1:16pm- letniaLynne

I see that many of you have already had appointments with their care providers. Is that standard procedure? Last pregnancy I waited until after the first trimester to find a midwife. I had moved and I was thinking of a homebirth so I had to research and interview. Also I wanted to wait to be sure I had a sticky bean. But this time around I am thinking of calling earlier just to touch base and find out how she would like to proceed, get suggestions on my diet and help with morning sickness. Anyone else doing the same? I am 5wks 5 days currently.

I have my first appt next week at 5w5d I am hoping to see a HB. I know it is early and part of me wants to cancel and make it for the next week just to be safe. I am not getting any betas drawn as this is my 4th and I am not being monitored very closely. My dr will probably draw blood next week but doesn't usually give me the #s. I know that if anything goes wron it is out of my hands so I try not to worry but its hard. I had a 16 week loss between my boys. She had cystic hygroma and fetal hydrops and we didn't see it coming. It was so painful and I try not to get too attached till I know for sure everything is OK.

letnia - i have been working with a fertility clinic, and they will monitor me closely for the first trimester. i will have a lot of appointments up to 12 weeks. I don't think it is standard for an unassisted, assumed low-risk pregnancy.

I have not made my first appointment yet. I'm hoping to get in between 7-8 weeks. My Dh is out of town the majority of those 2 weeks though so it might be challenging. He wasn't able to go to ou first appt with dd so he really would like to go to this one. But I also am a bit selfish and do not want to wait until 9 or more weeks to go haha. I'm trying to find a time he'll be here and my doc has an opening.post #17 of 6421/1/13 at 5:39pmI have had two miscarriages and one was thought to be a molar pregnancy so I ask to follow my between as it sort of calms me. My first prenatal appt is 1/18/13. I had two vaginal births but I'm opting for a c-section this time because with both deliveries my boys got stuck behind my pelvic bone for 2.5 hours during pushing. My first needed extra effort to get breathing and my second son had something burst in his soft spot which grew to an egg sized cyst in which he had surgery at 7 months. Not going through either of those again.post #18 of 6421/1/13 at 5:47pm- MamaMash

That's the day I'm trying to get my first appt scheduled for countrybound. Funny 😄 I had a planned c section with my dd due to breech presentation. It went amazingly smooth, and I am planning to opt for a repeat c section. I would be requesting some specific things I didn't think about last time. Such as not bathing baby right away, laying baby on me, bringing baby back to the room with me (obviously as long as baby is healthy and all). Those are my only real concerns with a c section and the only things I feel like I missed out on with dd's birth.post #19 of 6421/1/13 at 6:24pm- LivingSky

nettlesoup - it's the same here in my area of Canada. Unless there is previous history that would indicate high risk, first appointments aren't until later. I have called and booked in with my midwife, but only because the provincial midwife practice assigns midwives early and I wanted to make sure I get the same midwife that delivered my DS. I won't know if I'm getting her until she gets back from vacation Jan 14th though
I imagine my first appointment will be around 8-10 weeks to draw blood, then we'll do an ultrasound at 12 weeks.post #20 of 6421/2/13 at 2:05amYup, sound's like the same as here. I am anxious to get my official pregnancy results from the doctor; I gave them a urine sample last Friday and won't get the results until this coming Friday. When I was pregnant in February, I lost it right before the results came back where they said the pregnancy was not viable. So I am a little worried of that happening again, but I am also feeling a lot more positive about this pregnancy, so we'll see!
