JenandJames- I'm glad you found out now and are taking action to find the right OB. It is so important to have the right care providers.

Hi Ladies,
I had my first appt on Wednesday with my OB from my last pregnancy. It was originally scheduled for the 30th, but I went to the ER Tuesday night with gallbladder pain after the surgeon I had been seeing for it essentially dropped me since she couldn't do the surgery anymore. I was in severe pain so it was my only option. Since I'm pregnant, they called my OB, and he did allow me pain meds and told me to come in the office the next day. I don't even know what the point of seeing me was. When I set up the appointment for the 30th, I made a point of asking if I could just see the nurse practitioner like ibusually did or would I need to see the OB because I would likely need the pregnancy dated by U/S, because my cycles are incredibly long an irregular, so using my LMP would be grossly off. Anyway, the OB came in and went in about how it might be too early to see anything but since I wanted the U/S, He'd do it. Then I again explained I didn't think I was more than a few weeks because of my cycle and I was only in because I was TOLD to be in and I figured there wouldn't be much to see. So he put my LMP in as how far along I was and then started going on and on about how there was just a yolk sac and that I was either early (duh), or miscarrying (WTH?!?!). He kept saying I could be miscarrying a few more times then said I needed to come back next week for another U/S. They took multiple vials of blood for all my prenatal labs and sent me in my way.
Besides being annoyed he had me come in for essentially no reason, then act like I was unreasonable and had demanded a needless U/S, and then basically ignored the info I gave him about dating and kept implying my LMP was accurate and I was actually just miscarrying, I'm just all around ticked off about the whole thing. That being said, I have a call into the birth center to switch care, so yay for that!!post #129 of 6421/17/13 at 8:04pm- aidenn

Just lurking on your appointments! My first Appt is February 20th at 12 weeks. There are blessings to being medically boring, but at the same time it doesn't feel real until that first appointment!post #130 of 6421/17/13 at 8:11pmHad my first u/s today at 5w3d to confirm that it's in the right place since my previous (and only) pregnancy last November was ectopic. Been holding off joining this DDC till I could confirm that today. u/s showed some subchorionic hemorraging so doc prescribed prometrium. Going back next week to get a heart beat reading since he didn't do that today. Hopefully that will show that the bleeding is getting reabsorbed and getting smaller and we'll get a nice strong heart beat.- deborahbgkelly

Freckledmam- Definitely sounds like switching care is what you need to do. That sounds awful.

Let us know how it goes countrybound!post #135 of 6421/18/13 at 9:19amWe conceived late in Dec so mine isn't until Feb 7th at which time I will be 8 weeks. I don't plan on getting an early ultrasound since I know the doc was 12/26. I know that it is probably unlikely to hear the heartbeat with a doppler that early so I'll be waiting another month after that to hear a heartbeat most likely. That seems so far away!
post #136 of 6421/18/13 at 12:11pmAll is good 7w 5d great heartbeat. Go in every 2 weeks for ultrasounds for reassurance due to past.post #137 of 6421/18/13 at 12:38pm- mrsandmrs
