Appointment Results/Updates - Page 12

Love reading about all of your experiences, opinions, updates and seeing all of the u/s pics! How cool you got a wave Deborah!! My u/s is scheduled for Feb. 7th, I'll be a little over 8 weeks and am so looking forward to seeing/hearing that heartbeat! Can't wait!! (I'm similar to Sarah as I had an u/s at 8 weeks, no hb... so this will be a major appointment and huge moment for me as well. - next Thursday can't come soon enough!) Looks like some of you are having u/s next week as well, look forward to hearing from all of you!

The 20wk scan is a logical use of technology that I think has distinct advantages especially when it comes to planning an out of hospital birth.

I agree, I'm going for my second homebirth too. I'm undecided about the 20 week scan right now but may end up doing it for the reasons you mentioned.

These are our thoughts too. Check for any major issues that could cause a problem with a homebirth.

Just got back from my first appointment with the dr. Got to see a wiggly little baby who was waving his/her little arms. Very cute. And the hb was 177. So relieved.

 We have the same position.

My embryo is measuring small for dates (6/0 not 7/0) and heart rate is slow (about 90).  Will need another u/s next week.  I'm trying to stay calm, hopeful, and open to anything that happens.  I wish so much it had been just reassuring happy news.

Beep; hopefully next week's u/s will be more reassuring for you.

beep - You will be in my thoughts! Here's hoping that you actually ovulated/implanted a few days later than you thought, and that all is on track.

We're planning to do a 12 week (w/blood testing)and 20 week scan, for the reasons other PPs have mentioned. I would like to know as early as possible if we are up against anything out of the ordinary, but two scans is plenty for me!

I won't see my home birth MW until 12 weeks to hear a heartbeat then we will make for pregnancy public. We only need one u/s as well although the MW is fine with no u/s but I like to know the gender and to make sure everything looks good.

I finally switched to the birth center after doing a tour and meeting the owner/midwife this week with DP. It was really just a matter of him being able to have his questions answered. My first appointment with the MW is Friday. I go in Monday for blood work to check my progesterone levels, and an u/s because the last one the heartbeat was a little slower than my primary care doc liked.

I received a call from my ins company this week to verify some info, and they had my due date at 8/30; it's 9/16...and that was the date my old OB had given-even after I explained repeatedly my cycles were about 45 days. Nice to know he completely disregarded that fact, and that's why he was so insistent I was miscarrying.

So glad I fired him. Lol

I just had my first midwife appointment. It was mostly just going through forms and answering health related questions. She also took blood to check for various diseases, and also took a urine sample.

I was disappointed to find out that I might not be allowed to use the birth centre because I lost a litre and a half of blood when i haemorrhaged with my last child. The limit is a litre for me to be able to go in. But she's going to try and get me in, and I'll get to speak to someone about it nearer the time to see if there's a chance I can go there.

My next appointment is my scan on the 29th, and I think I see the midwife every 6 weeks.

Got my progesterone levels tested again (plan to do it weekly until 12 weeks) and it was 31. Nice and high. Explains why this week has been so bad symptom wise. And, even with it being high my doctor still wants me to continue taking the prometrium. I'm so happy it's high and not low.

That's great!

Glad to hear it, MamaMash!!

I did my blood draw this morning and will hear back in a day or two, I'm hoping for high enough levels to back off the progesterone a least a little.

U/S today went great. Baby was right on for dates and the heart rate was 156. I'm so relieved, because after the low ish heart rate two weeks ago and the low progesterone, I was worried that maybe this one just wasn't meant to be, but was trying not to think about it.

Glad to hear your progesterone is nice and high MamaMash:)

thefreckledmama - so happy your u/s went well, you must feel so relieved! Mine is 2 days away and I'm trying to make the excitement mask the nervousness/anxiety!!

Same thing happened to me with my first. I switched to our semi local (about 1.5 hrs away) birth center and am so happy with them. The midwives are awesome. Probably why they are gonna (hopefully) deliver my 3rd :-)

I'm not going to do a first trimester US. But I will do the anatomy scan, as I'm another one planning a second home birth and need to be able to adjust plans accordingly if there's an issue w/baby that would need immediate medical attention.
It's hard to wait until that 12ish week mark to hear a HB! So glad for all of you who've gotten reassurance from your testing/scans. smile.gif

Looks like I'm in need of a new home birth midwife. My midwife decided to stay in Alaska at the birth center she was working at. She was supposed to come back this month but they asked her to stay on until April. I think it's for the best though. I wanted someone with more experience and more stable. I'm going to call one she suggested and see if I can meet her tomorrow. I can't wait to hear the HB soon! I'll be 10 weeks Friday. Maybe I can be one of the few that hears the heartbeat early! We will see.
