Swissmiss, you get to do your ultrasound on a Saturday?? Jealous.
(Ours is on Friday, 4/5 -- that's why I happen to know.)

Ooh, your scan is a week and a half ahead of mine. How exciting! I'm really looking forward to mine too.

Yes! We did with our first too. We go out to eat after and then buy the baby's first outfit. :-) We are going to the same guy who did our u/s with our first. He is so sweet and you can tell he loves his job. He has done it for over 30 years!

Aww. I like that tradition. This is our second and DH is all, "can you schedule it so I have time to get back to work?" lol.gif

If Saturday wasn't an option then my husband would be the same way! Lol

swissmiss, that is cute. My 18 week anatomy scan is in a couple of weeks and it's at 8:30am so DH can go to work after that, it's right around the corner from his office.
In general he hasn't been terribly interested in being there at appts and I told him he didn't HAVE TO come. Maybe after that appt he'll start bonding a bit more, once it gets more real.

Dakipode, same here.  My husband has expressed zero interest in appointments.

I had my 15 week appointment today.  Short and sweet, but she was able to find the baby with the dopler much more easily this time (and the heartbeat was much louder compared with the whooshing of my blood).  Plus, we could hear the baby moving around, which was pretty cool.

I hear you ladies about scheduling appts around partner's work schedule! I had to really squeeze this last one in before my husband left on a work trip, but I was impressed that he was able to mentally "be present" instead of worrying about his to-do list. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that this is our first so everything is very new to us. Hopefully he will continue to want to come to appointments, though I'm sure further down the road I'll be going solo more often. :)

My husband is going to be out of town a ton the next 5 months so he will probably miss the majority of the appointments. He was able to make it to the first 2 and I hope he'll be able to make it to the anatomy scan. Other than that I really don't care either way if he comes.

I had my regular appointment this morning, and all was well.  Baby's HB was 156, and we have the gender scan Monday morning.  :)  My next appt is in 5 weeks along with the big anatomy scan.  I can't believe my next appointment is the half way point.. Wow..

I had my second appointment today, and got to hear the baby's heartbeat FINALLY! That's always such a great thing to hear for the first time. love.gif I'm a little bit annoyed, though, that my ultrasound has been booked and it isn't until May 1st. Ugh! That's another six weeks away! I will be 20w5d at that point. I was really hoping to get in in my 18th week, and not just because it's sooner but also because there are a couple of great baby thrift sales coming up in my city, but they're all before the ultrasound. So much for getting cheap clothes (aside from some gender neutral newborn stuff). Boo.

Sorry to complain. I just feel sooooo behind everyone else!

whoops, i forgot to post that i had a beautiful boring OB appt last friday. they found both heartbeats with the monitor so we didn't have to have an ultrasound. they were both 151/152.

after having a lot of conversations with doulas and people in the community, we are thinking about changing OBs to someone who is more likely to let us try for a vaginal birth with twins & delivers at a better hospital. i am not really stoked about changing to a doctor 30 minutes further away, or changing at all, basically, but i really really want a better chance.

Bromache; that's a long time to wait for an ultrasound, how frustrating. It'll be well worth the wait though.

Mrsandmrs; I'm glad you have that option, if I was to have twins I'd want the chance to have them naturally.

Had a MW appointment today and also *finally* got to hear the HB. What an awesome sound!

yay heartbeat!

I had a huge freak out moment today when, for the first time, started spotting bright red. Luckily my midwifes were able to get me in in short notice, and we were able to find the heartbeat with the Doppler, so it was just a scare but it really shook me up.

mrsandmrs - I hope you find an OB that's a better fit; let us know how it goes.

Chispita I'm glad you got some reassurance from the midwives. Spotting always made me nervous.
I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. Like mrsandmrs it ws pretty uneventful. I heard the heartbeat, 156, and learned how to feel my uterus. No ultrasound so no pictures this time. But April 20 will be the big ultrasound. I'm afraid I'll pee myself with all the water I'm supposed to drink.

I had my second midwife appointment today. All my blood tests came back good, and to my surprise I wasn't deficient in iron, so that was nice. I also got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was really cool.

Thanks for the sympathy, Nettlesoup! I'm glad you also had a good second appointment. smile.gif

I think you're making a good decision, mrs&mrs. I'd want to try a vaginal birth with twins, too. Good luck!

OceanSolitude, it is hard to hold that liquid! I dread that part...
