I pee in a cup, dip the stick in and report back on the colour. Pretty easy and I don't even have to hand over my pee.

Me too. I deal with enough bodily fluids as it is just dealing with my kids!

ETA: Which, BTW, tests for glucose and protein (also something else that they don't care about).

This is the procedure with both midwifery clinics I've been to in Ontario. And it's not mandatory. Recommended, but a choice we can make. Same with weighing ourselves. I love the autonomy and choice! I also like knowing exactly what the results are.

I just got a postcard in the mail that said my screening tests were "screen negative." I know they aren't 100% and i didn't do the NT test. I'm feeling happy and optimistic about the results. Anyone else doing the blood tests? Quad screen i think its called.

That's really good news, Oceansolitude smile.gif

Just had my 18 week ultrasound yesterday.  It was pretty surreal seeing him for the first time and watching him move around!  When the tech told us it's a boy my husband standing doing fist-pumps and victory laps haha.  I've literally never seen him so happy and excited.carrot.gif EVERYONE besides my dad was sure it was going to be a girl, and though I didn't care, I guess I assumed that too because I'm finding this is a bit of an adjustment!

Due date was moved from 9/5 to 9/1, so that was more in-line with my charting instead of just going by my last period, but still 2 days earlier than even that (so I was 18 weeks, 2 days yesterday).  She said he looked perfect.  Heartbeat was I think 144, which was less than a month ago (160), but she said it would keep lowering until it is born.  He weighs 9 oz (she said that's normal, but online it said at 18 weeks they're only 5-7 oz).

We also had a 3D video, but it looked pretty creepy (I guess he has no fat yet), so we're not showing that one to anyone! lol.gif

KaliHekate; how exciting! Your due date is now the same as mine. My next scan isn't until the 17 though, but that's not long now.

How great! I can't wait until our 20 wwwwl scan on the 20 th. I wonder if there will be 3d. I've never seen one of those.

Awesome, Nettlesoup!  Are you going to find out the gender?

Congrats, KaliHekate! I am on pins and needles until Friday afternoon.
I am thinking girl, but I don't know exactly why. I imagine that, like you, it will take me a while to adjust if it isn't!

How exciting, KaliHekate! Congratulations! biggrinbounce.gif (Boys are tons of fun!)

I will be. If it turns out to be a boy, I think my daughter will need time to get used to the idea since she really doesn't want a brother.

Congrats KaliHekate!  I was unsure about having a boy when my first (and second!) ultrasounds revealed a penis.  lol.gif   But after they were born, I just felt like anything other than little man cubs wouldn't have been nearly as fabulous.  I need to remind myself that if this one turns out to be a boy!  (after a decade with being a mom to boys I just would really love to experience raising a daughter this time, but of course I'll fall in love with another boy if that's what comes.  heartbeat.gif

I have my 18 week anatomy scan tomorrow morning at 10am!!! So excited and nervous! I hope I can sleep tonight! I've wanted this pregnancy for so long after dealing with anxiety that I still can't believe that I'm pregnant. I just feel fat! Lol The kicks and jabs once in awhile are exciting.

Oooo, best wishes to you, Swissmiss! Enjoy!

Kalihekate congrats!!! I think my fiancé might do the fist pumps as well if this little bean turns out to be a boy. smile.gif

Swissmiss I feel your anticipation!!! Enjoy your scan tomorrow.

I just scheduled my first scan for next Tuesday morning. Ill just be 20 weeks 0 days. I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. This babe kicks and moves a ton. It actually has me considering the possibility of twins. My midwife who has been doing this for 30+ years says she cant tell by measurements of the uterus until 28 wks. She said their could be 2 in there right now and their is no real way to tell without US until past 28 wks. I can't say she did not get me thinking about it. ..... I wonder? orngtongue.gif

Well, swissmiss?? Any word?

We had our scan this afternoon, and I am completely shocked to be Team Blue! But there was no mistaking the LO's "boy part," as the tech put it. Now to convince DH of the proper name for him...wink1.gif
