rrs-This is your 4th, right? My 4th pregnancy was so stinking difficult. I had all sorts of issues that I had never had with the other ones. I kind of blamed in on the baby being a boy, after having the 3 girls...but now after talking to other mamas, there seems to be something "special" about 4th pregnancies that makes them higher maintenance than earlier ones...lol. Hang in there-you've just got to make it to the end of summer!
Yep, my fourth - and I've had other people tell that their fourth pregnancy was really difficult as well! Thanks for the encouragement, I needed it LOTS!
rrs - Sorry to hear you had a crappy appointment, I hope some of the things your midwives suggested will help. Just curious... did you have to ask about the cervical length and placenta or are these things that they commonly check for without needing to be mentioned?
Cervical length and placenta location are part of the midtrimester ultrasound - though, I've never been "told" them - I've had to ask. I didn't bother asking the sonographer, I just asked to read the report at my following prenatal appointment. I was told once that it was too hard to get a cervical length on me (at 34w with my last pregnancy) because her head was too low. he said if I insisted, we could do it transvaginally, but I didn't care that much.
Had an appt with the doc yesterday; all is well. Literally, it may have been five minutes with her. I told her about the intense chills I'd been getting, so she sent me for a blood draw to check my thyroid again.
(My TSH was fine last time, but one of the other numbers is pretty low. My mom has had both hyper- and hypothyroidism, so it's something I keep an eye on.)
Otherwise, I'm good, baby is good, and I had a cupcake to make up for my weight loss (I am down two pounds since my first appt).
cmu204 - I just had blood drawn for my thyroid, too - out of curiousity, why are you down 2lbs? I ask because we're thinking I have hyperthyroidism of hyperemesis gravidum (and wondering if you lost weight because of that, too). At least I would be able to explain away my BP if it was....
