Sex while pregnant (and other funny jokes) « Back to Group Discussions

Just thought i'd get this one started even though most everyone in the group is still in the throes of morning sickness. My last pregnancy, my poor husband was terrified to have sex with me. I think he was not only worried about hurting the baby (despite regular assurances that he wouldn't) but had an irrational fear that I would some how explode disgusting uterus fluid on him at any moment.  Sigh. Of course, I was more sexually aroused when pregnant than at any other point in my life. I swear, as soon as I got pregnant this time, I started having these crazy dreams that I never have any other time.

Goal: convince DH that i wont juice on him, and have more sex without browbeating the poor man. Any ideas? Has anyone else had to deal with a less than enthusiastic husband?

My hubby was like that with #1. As soon as I was visibly pregnant, which was fast since I am small, he was super not into it. It was rough on me. I felt like I had to beg for it, and it made me feel bad about myself. With #2 he had a complete turn around. We had a very active pregnancy up until the night I went into labor. It was like he just got over all of his hang ups between #1 and #2.

I also have a stronger sex drive during pregnancy. dh I'd ok with it, until the last couple of weeks in my last pregnancy when my midwife told us that I was 5-6 cm dilated, and stayed that way for 10 days. I was begging him to have sex so I would start labor, but I think the thought of that open cervix just freaked him out! haha!

I don't have much advice to offer. Once dh understood that it was okay he was totally fine with it. He actually kind of digs it. Granted this is a guy who will get in to a birth pool with me as I push a baby and whatever else comes out with no complaint, so I don't think he's so worried about ick factor. That's a good place to start a convo maybe. If your dh is willing to do that type of thing also, is it that much different?

What do your spouses say when you talk about it with them? Askew- did you ask what was different for him with #2?
