I'm not really sure what is bothering Jasper... Is it his ears, his nose, his chest, his teeth?? Who knows! What I do know is that he covered every square inch of bed last night. All night long he would grunt and cry and wiggle to a new spot, settle and sleep for 30 seconds, and then repeat. On my back, on my head, at the foot of the bed upside down, pushing his head into dh's back, etc etc etc. I am so sleep deprived today it is insane. I've been sitting at my desk doing nothing for the past two hours. Right now, I'm pretending to write an email... then I'll just cut and paste this. I seriously am so tired I can't focus! Tomorrow, I have an important meeting... I need to be coherent!! I'm thinking Ibuprofen right before bed. Maybe with some teething tablets. And vodka. (JK!) I am counting down the minutes until I can go home. I already called dh and told him that I would be taking a nap!
So... here's a question. Jasper is getting ready to move to the toddler room at daycare. I am not super thrilled with the toddler room at his current place as it has kids from 13 months to 36 months. Seems like a huge difference to me. Also, there doesn't seem to be a ton of structure, I'm not completely in love with the teachers, I'm not in love with the outdoor space, and this is the place where I have to pack his breakfast, lunch, snack, and milk every day. However, it is super convenient (right near dd1 and dd2's school, on my way to work), the most affordable option, and he is happy there. He likes it, feels comfortable, doesn't cry, etc. My other option is the place I sent dd2. I was very happy with it. Most of the teachers are still there, which is a good sign. They split the kids in groups like 1-1.5, 1.5-2, etc. Very close in age. They provide meals, milk, and diapers. Nicer play space outside. More structure/ set curriculum. Slightly more expensive ($23 a week more). But, it's not like a huge huge difference quality-wise. You don't walk in there and pass out from the glory of the magical daycare or anything.
Anyway, so where I'm at is is it worth it to cause Jasper the trauma of the move for the difference between the two? Does it even out? I really cannot decide! Dh and I have been going back and forth for months. Any advice?
Oh, and the third option is the magical amazing fairy tale daycare. It is a Reggio Emilia school... the playgrounds are all nature based, everything in the school is very natural, peaceful. Wooden climbing structures, etc. No punishment, lots of arts.... it's like the Harvard of daycares. Very expensive, but my work subsidizes it so we can actually afford it. (They will pay 30%). But it's in a high traffic part of town that will cause me to lose a few minutes of work on either side. Also, it's near where I work, so I can't ever utilize it on my day off and I will always have to pick up Jasper, never dh. And we may lose the subsidy next year if we make more money. We pretty much ruled that out, but I'm open to being wrong!
So that's my novel. Sorry! I am just so confused!!!
