OILS- I'm waiting to hear back from my friend.

How is everyone? Tonight is the last night of Chankuah :candle

MAY I VENT--

I'm a little upset. One person that I invited to come told me she was coming. We waited for over an hour. NO SHOW. What is wrong with me? :(

I don't think its you, people are just rude like that. People are like that everywhere to everyone. Its gotta be something about this generation ... people used to do what they said they would do. Now, people say one thing and do another. Its frustrating.

OK! I'm going to try to find a way to make this coming year better. REALLY

Hard week here also. A similar thing happened to me, Nazsmum, but I was the "no show." It was all a misunderstanding, unfortunately. I thought it was a casual get together and they were expecting me there at a specific time, on the dot. They actually called to chew me out about it while en route to their house. They didn't make an effort to understand when I explained the misunderstanding and cancelled on me. Then they cancelled again when I didn't show up (because I was cancelled on, so I went home). Haha what a mess. I'm sorry that your friend didn't make it, Nazsmum. Perhaps something came up? Maybe they thought it was a casual/open house type invitation, so not a big deal if they couldn't make it? I doubt that it had anything to do with you.

A young friend of ours was killed in an accident on the interstate right before Thanksgiving. He pulled over to change a flat tire and was struck by a vehicle that drifted. PSA: Please stay OFF of the interstate if you have to stop. The shoulder isn't safe.

He was only 24 and had a new wife and unborn baby boy (due in February). Heartbreaking.

That's really interesting, 3lilchunklins, about Christmas vs. Christmas trees. I think I was aware that the tree, Santa, etc., are pagan rituals but wasn't aware that they're mentioned specifically in the bible. Gives us much to consider.

As far as friend- It was open invite. She TOLD me she was coming at X:XX. After 1/2hr I called with NO answer. So we wait and wait and wait. We NEEDED to eat! THEN we tried to wait to light the candles. WE call again w/ no answer??? :irked I don't feel like calling her now...

Aw, so sorry about your friend skinny. At times like these we must encourage one another that God is sovereign, He works all things together for good for those who love Him, and he is still worthy to be praised, the God who gives and takes away...

What do you ladies do about gifts for Sunday School teachers? I not sure what I'm going to give this year?

At our old church, we did have teachers, but I never got them anything, it never crossed my mind, probably because they were so clicky.

Where we go now, we don't have teachers, the kids sit in service with us.
Hopefully someone else will be more helpful

Clicky is the reason that I don't know what to get. I'm thinking something small.

At the dollar tree by me they have tealight candle holders with Bible verses. They are actually really nice, maybe one of those and a pack of tea lights? Or, idk snow globe?

I tried to check out that link, but my phone couldn't handle it, I guess. I lost my whole connection. I really hate it when that happens, it seems to happen a lot with blogs and anything that does not have a mobile version.
Anyway, how have you all been?
