trekkingirl-- Happy you are doing better!!!

Hebrews 13: 20-21

The God of shalom brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Yeshua, by the blood of the eternal covenant. May God equip you with every good thing you need to do his will; and may he do in us whatever pleases him, through Yeshua the Messiah. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.

I'll join C:

I haven't read the entire thread yet,but I did want to chime in that Luke was actually a gentile-- not "all" the NT writers were Jewish, but most were, & ITA with the rest of what you wrote.

Re your DC's paper from school...is it possible the teachers were just trying to make that point strongly to the students-- that Jesus TOTALLY was in agreement with the OT? I mean by having them consider that question, especially now when the OT is so under fire, even in supposedly Christian circles? ~shrug~

OK, now that I've read the thread... I wonder why so few mamas hang out here? Surely there are not so very few who would id as crunchy & Christian? Hmmm.

Re Easter... actually we didn't have lamb this year. We raise sheep, so we -always- have lamb, LOL, not just for Easter, but for most special occasions & other times as well.

Sorry, I dont have a good book to recommend at this time. I've found many I wouldn't recommend, & one I can't recommend! So, let me think on it.

I'm not familiar with the tv preacher you mentioned, but I may check him out when I get a minute... has anyone ever seen the preachers from "A Word from the Lord" or from "The Gospel of Christ"? They present some very strong arguments that are scripturally solid... definitely great fodder for believers who want to question things and dig deeper. I will say that I don't agree with 100% of the teachings I have seen, but I do so very much appreciate their spiritual honesty, and that they welcome questions from anyone on their teachings. It's hard to find leaders/ teachers who don't feel they are somehow "above the law" or so superior that they can't be questioned. Christ & his apostles did not display that kind of attitude!

mum4vr- Nice to meet you. YES Luke is Gentile. I always forget Luke! LOL I really don't know why more moms don't come around. I miss many of them greensad.gif. Oh, well.

I'm not sure what TV preacher I mentioned? I really like Wayne Monbleau Lets Talk about Jesus he is on the radio and web. www.lovinggrace.org He is all about Jesus and nothing else.

My son is sick so I must go.

My DH got a promotion at work! From grocery clerk to shift manager! My pastor called me today to say congrats and let us know that the church is praying for him. I love my church in that regard.

My church just started a DVD lending library. I checked out The Passion of the Christ because I have never seen it. Have any of you? Did you like it?

joy.gifjoy.gifFor the promotion!!!! Praise Jesus!!!!

I did see the movie. I cried for most of it. You SEE Jesus suffering. Don't know if I can say I liked or not. It is all about the passion of Messiah and that is it.

I like JESUS OF NAZARETH from the 70's. It shows the whole life of Jesus.

Did you watch the BIBLE on TV?? We don't have cable so could not watch.

I cried through most of the movie. I had to read the subtitles to my 6 yo while crying. It wasn't because of how violent the movie was, it was because I know that all the pain he suffered was for ME.

My DH thought the movie was too violent for the kids but I told him that I think it's important for them to realize what Christ went through for their salvation.

I'm looking forward to checking out more movies from church. Hopefully some that depict his life instead of just his death.

I was able to listen to A Word from the Lord. It was good.

trekkingirl- how is the stuff with the house coming? We are going have to move very soon!!! Not looking forward to it.

Oh, Nazsmum, I hope you DS feels better!

And Trekkingirl, great to hear about the promotion!

I checked out Monbleau's website briefly, but I didn't realize he's only on radio & net.

We've been attending a meeting all week with HD Simmons. My DC really seem to be learning a lot. We've head good discussions so far.

I watched The Passion, but my dc did not. I did think it was too violent for them. I don't disparage anyone who feels differently, but for my DC, just bc something is true or actually happened, or even pertains to them, doesn't mean they're ready to see it at a given age... but mine were mucher younger then as well-- I saw it in the theatre when it was released. As far as liking it... Idk if I'd describe it that way; it's hard to say like or dislike about such a film. It was very powerful and mostly accurate. For believers, I hope it was excruciating (just bc I don't know how a believer can see it without feeling more of the sacrifice that was made); for non-believers, I hope it is motivating.

my son is much better and baby is sleeping on me...so I'm sitting here @ the computer 2whistle.gif not getting anything done.

Who is HD Simmons?

Not getting anything done, LOL, sounds familiar, even tho I got on the computer to -get- something done.

Glad your son's ok-- there are a lot of stomach virii going around here right  now.

HD Simmons is a gospel preacher. I had never met him or heard him before, but most of the Christians I know who are involved in evangelism consider him to be a pioneer in the field. IMO, he doesn't pull any punches, gives the truth straight, but lovingly.

He enjoyed meeting everyone after the lessons, and stayed late to talk to anyone at all-- he even talked to my DC about fishing and asked them to bring the fishing flies they'd tied the next night to show him. He has a super sense of humor as well. I was only disappointed that there were relatively few in the audience-- he gave it his all, anyway, just as if he were speaking to a packed house.
