BPA free Plastic Spoons or Metal Spoons?

I am 21 weeks pregnant, and setting up my baby registry.  So, I am considering that metal spoons could hurt the baby's gums, but plastic spoons could contain plastic chemicals. Any thoughts? First time posting here, after being on the Bump for a while and looking for something more "crunchy".

There are charming hardwood and bamboo spoons out there. My kids were quite a bit older when we got around to using silverware, so I had no concerns about regular kid metal silverware - which is mostly what I liked.

Plastic is definitely softer on the mouth, and lighter (therefore easier to hold in some ways), but it's plastic.  There's also silicone-coated spoons to add to the dilemma. ;)  I used those for awhile, but that phase was short.

The most useful thing I've invested in (as for as utensils go) is a bunch of extra small-sized (regular) stainless steel spoons.  We go through a ton of those around here, and they definitely seem to work a lot better than the adult-sized ones!  (easier to hold, easier to put in the mouth).
