I have the worst luck with midwives/ obs!!! My first babe I went to a huge practice that came highly recommended. Everything went fine until the birth, when I went into labor at 37 weeks and a random midwife that I had never met showed up. She was clearly scattered and didn't really listen when I said that I was really in labor. I have a high tolerance for pain and I guess my contractions didn't look convincing enough. Minutes later I was pushing and she called my husband down to see the baby's "head". As he was watching, my son pooped. Oops! Not the head. Surprise breach baby. She tells me to stop pushing (soooo harder than it sounds) and goes to find a doctor telling me over her shoulder as she walks out of the room that I will have to have a csection. She later passed out in the OR and one of my nurses had to leave to tend to her. C section was extensive because baby was so low down so VBAC for the second was out of the question. Needless to say I found a different practice for my second baby.
Baby #2 was a scheduled c section, but I went into labor at 37 weeks again so had to have another emergency c section. Immediatly following the delivery, my new doctor came into the recovery room and told me I shouldn't have anymore children... while I am alone and on pain killers.
Shortly after that we moved to a much larger city with access to much better healthcare and I decided to see a high risk OB who declared me fit to bear more kiddos. YAY! So now on baby number 3 I have been closely monitored and really like my doctor, but today on my 37 week checkup he told me that because none of his patients are due next week he has decided to go out of town. Um maybe by his calendar I am not due, but my body seems to think 37 weeks is long enough and that means this baby is coming soon. And once again I will be in an OR with someone I have never met. I am so freaking out right now! If anyone has any advise on how to speed things up so this babe get born before my doc leaves town please clue me in!!!
