Winter IVF Thread - Page 28

Vegan - that would be my dream, to have a known embryo donor. I don't want to be BFFs with them, but it wold be nice to have the option of the child knowing them if they choose to one day. They are so hard to come by in this country, it is almost impossible without spending tons of money. We are the complete opposite - we don't know anything about the baby(s) genetic parents. I know her race, male and female occupations, both their heights and weights, and nothing else. When we were doing just sperm donation we paid extra for a donor who would release his information when the child turned 18. I am grateful for any embryo (obviously) - especially the one(s) inside me :), but the situation that you know of is really ideal.

Laggie - how are you? I have been thinking of you,  I really really hope that you get yours too.

AFM- tested again today. I can't stop looking at the positive tests. I may go out and buy more tests today just so that I can see a new second line in the morning.

rcr, it is too bad that embryo donation is as open as some after birth adoptions are. I would agree having the possibility to know genetic siblings/family and health history would be nice. I am glad you have your little ones growing even though you know just a little bit about the genetic parents. You will be a great mom to those little ones because you want them so much. Glad your positives keep coming on the HPT. I will be curious about your beta today.  Twins?

AFM, yeah, the "I have oranges in my pelvis" feeling is totally there this morning. Bending over to fold clothes last night was filled with pressure that was uncomfortable. Hopefully my follicles are doing great! Today we find out if Wednesday or Thursday will be egg retrieval day.

My beta was this morning. I've been peeing on sticks but haven't seen anything I would consider a positive. Yesterday's test had the faintest faintest line, the kind you can only see if you go out in the sun and squint and today's was even lighter (although I still saw the tiniest shadow of a line). So I think even if there was something, it must not be viable. Still holding out the hope of the crazy lady though (I know, pathetic, right?) I can see the results online when they come back, I will try not to hit refresh every 5 minutes, but it won't be easy.

RCR - yesterday we were sitting on a boardwalk having fish and chips, and a man walked by with two little girls. They were the exact same height and wearing the exact same flowered coat, but one little girl was Asian and the other was white. I know this is silly but I immediately thought, oh that's what RCR's twins will look like love.gif. I don't believe in premonitions (if you could even call it that), but it made me smile.

Laggie, you're not crazy. You have that natural desire to be a mom. I hope you get your news soon because waiting is the hardest part.

Afm, I just got off the phone with the IVF coordinator from the Grand rapids office. I have to go back tomorrow for another blood draw and ultrasound. The clinical nurse did the ultrasound today but faxed the information to Grand Rapids to determine the plan. Still no idea of egg retrieval date maybe Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Staying on 75 follistim tonight and 75 menopur and ganirelix in the morning. Tried to work with students doing community service but after 2 hours of sedately washing windows my back hurt so bad and my abdomen felt like it would burst. Laying down now and feel fine except for fullness. Nurse this morning really took forever wanding my ovaries. I don't think that helped.
Lilac - hope all that fullness is a great sign of good eggies!!! Good luck!!

Laggie- I have everything crossed for you!! What time do you think you will hear? On the edge of my seat!!

Rcr - when do you get your results?? I'm on the edge of my seat for you as well!!! Everytime I get an email alert on my phone I keep thinking it's going to be good news from Mdc!! Keep us posted!!!

rcr - I'm excited to hear your beta results!

laggie - I'm excited for yours too and really hoping for a miracle for you.

lilac - Do they tell you your follicle numbers and sizes? I had a few painful ultrasounds near the end of my stimulation as well.

AFM - I've been obsessed with reality TV shows that talk about infertility lately. In February I watched all of Sister Wives, now I'm onto Giuliana & Bill. It makes me feel more normal to see people on TV going through this stuff in real life, and I really feel a connection to the women who go through it (Meri from Sister Wives and Giulana Rancic). Anyone else know other shows that talk about infertility?

Nobody has taken me up on the request to start a Spring IVF thread! I gotta confess, after being threadkeeper for 3 months already I really can't see myself continuing for another 3 months, it's kind of hard to stay motivated during the down times when I am not cycling. It would be really great if someone could take over as threadkeeper. I know some of you might be reluctant because 3 months is a long time and a lot of things can happen in that time, so my suggestion would be to switch over to a monthly thread system that way whoever volunteers is only on the hook for the month of April. What do you all think? And can somebody volunteer pretty please???

Sourire - Another idea is to just do it like the graduates thread - with nobody in charge, and no real front page. That way somebody could post it and not have to follow along as threadkeeper. I understand not wanting to do it. The last time I did it I got my last BFN and I just wanted to stop doing it immediately (thanks for taking over then!)

Lilac - my clinic opperates the same way - they have to send results in to another office and then I hear from them later in the day.

Laggie - I am still hoping for you. I am crossing everything.

AFM - I should hear any time now. It is 2:00 now, and they make the calls sometime after 2. I told the nurses that I think it is positive, and they were all really excited. I sure hope I am right.

Laggie & RCR- staling from work & staying hopeful for you both!

Sourire- I'll take it, I think what RCR said is a good idea, we all update as needed in where we are at anyway, who really looks at the front page when you need to know where someone us at? You just ask! I'll start a new one when in home Wednesday! Thank you for doing it this past time!

i totally agree.....no one looks at the front page.

I've seen on some other boards where, instead of changing the first post, people just do self updates. So, they would just go and copy the most recent list of names, then paste it and add their changes. It does make for a lot of scrolling, but then nobody has to be threadkeeper. We do have a long list of graduates on our front page so we'd need to shorten it up a little bit imho (though we could still keep that part in post 1?) Maybe something like this:

I want to put rcr in the BFPs but I'll wait until she says so!

Laggie - any news? I am still crossing my fingers for you.

Beta was 451. I honestly don't know if that is high or low, as I never really looked into beta numbers since I never got a bfp. Is that good? High? low? normal? transfer was the 14th, so today is 11 days past 5 day transfer

BTW - you can move me if you want. :) I would love to see my name on that list finally.

Sourire, no number and sizes-the nurse who did the ultrasound didn't want to say anything until the doctor saw it and I was not feeling so good when the ivf coordinator called. I will ask tomorrow though since going 2 days in a row is odd.

beta base will have a great answer for you mama!

RCR - I think that's a fairly high number, but still could be either 1 or 2 in there... My gut says you have doubles though ;-)

I just saw my test result online and it says 68. I feel like that's too low though, I'm not sure if I'm ready to consider it a BFP until the next blood test. Today's pee stick was lighter than yesterday's so I'm super nervous. I guess I will wait until the nurse calls and see what she says. My first BFP the number was 135.

Good luck Laggie, hoping its good news for you :)

Laggie - my clinic considers anything over 5 as positive. So at least it is not bad news, and It sounds like good news to me!!!!

rcr, I totally missed this because I was on my phone. Exciting to see a nice number for you. I couldn't find the "beta base" that another poster noted to see what that number means. Are you doing a second beta test or will you just wait for an ultrasound to determine how many little ones are growing?

When are you going in for your second beta, since it sounds like you expect to have a retest for your beta?
