That is an awesome DH! There are nights when I've looked at DH and said," I'll give you a $100 to do bedtime".

So exciting! I'm hoping we'll get to hear next week at 10 weeks. I want to record it on my iPhone so DD1 can hear it later.

Definitely call around and talk to MWs about what their experiences are with your insurance and what they can offer. Birth centers will be able to offer similar information.
Yep, that was me! I've been assisting my MW with home births, too, but due to various circumstances (personal and pregnancy), I'm not currently being called. I told her that I *really* want to go, though. I need to figure out better childcare arrangements, though. That's the hardest part!
I have never done AFP/etc. testing, primarily because I would not terminate. Also, major issues are generally visible via ultrasound, especially the later you get it done. Last time, I didn't even get an u/s until 32-34 weeks. At that point, everything is big and clear, so I'd be prepared if there were major issues, but I don't risk false positives.

We will not be doing the nuchael for the same reason. Also, DH doesn't want to do any testing that might cause miscarriage (cvs, amnio) and I don't want a high probability result or false positive without the option of further testing. I don't want to be anxious about what ifs for 7 months.
