Food Cravings - Page 10

Well, I am totally going to be honest about my shameful eating behavior, I ate a.........pork chop! I have been vegetarian for years now and I make meat for the boys and they smelled so good and I caved. I think pork is just wrong and rarely buy it but alas, the baby made me do it? LOL! By the time I was done it did make me feel yuck though. No more pork for me. Chicken still grosses me out. Probably no more meat.

I feel like all I eat is dairy right now. I don't drink cow's milk not pregnant and avoid dairy like the plague but I have caved to the sacred animals milk and I drink glasses of it. I have always been a firm believer in trusting my body and if it is craving something then just maybe I need it. So I am not too upset about the dairy thing. I believe it will pass.

Last week, I had two McDonalds milkshakes! They have to be bad for you, right?

So looking forward to the second trimester and feeling normal? again.

My one consistent craving is Mexican. I can eat it any time.

Lol nettle soup- It's funny because the Taco Bell & Sushi talk makes me gaggy, stuff I'd never eat but Kraft Mac & cheese always tastes good!

I'm back to not craving anything. This dang MS won't let up. Although sometimes I sneak bites of my dd's mac and cheese. Haha

Sarah - on the rare occasion that I eat Annies organic mac n cheese, that is exactly how I eat it, with peas mixed in! Too funny!! Guess we're both oddballs!!! bouncy.gifAlthough, when I indulged the other night, I didn't have my usual peas mixed in, I had green beans and broccoli on the side. Peas are definitely the way to go!yummy.gif

And, how bizarre about the reverting to cravings from childhood - nostalgia, etc... the other day while grocery shopping I saw a package of organic string cheese and had to get it! I used to love that stuff as a kid and was stoked to find it organic!!

mrs&mrs and MadelynMc - I do think that this board and society/tv are bad influences on our food choices! The Taco Bell thing had been driving me nuts but I didn't indulge (guess I should admit that DH has kept me strong - I probably would have caved for a 7-layer - yuck! It's so not real food and I know better!!). Actually ended up making some homemade burritos the other day with healthy ingredients and they were yummy, felt much better about it and guilty that I even wanted to eat that crap.

That is so hilarious... we are like kindred spirits! With food and pregnancy, at least! ;)

I had the latte I've been craving, and now I'm feeling crap. So I won't be doing that again! It doesn't help that I haven't had caffeine in two months and I'm not a coffee drinker in the first place.

All I can think about is baklava.

oooooh baklava. that sounds amazing. i am going through a rice pudding phase. it, uh, has protein.

refried beans!

mrsandmrs baklava has protein from the nuts, right? It all counts toward my 80-100! I got two big pieces today and am saving them for after dinner. Nomnomnom.

Mmm, baklava!  I've been craving galaktoboureko, but I need to buy some phyllo.  I think this weekend I may bite the bullet on that!

I hope my Taco Bell "meh" wasn't a personal offense towards those sharing their guilty pleasures on this thread!  I wasn't as impressed as I remember myself being with those Baja chalupas.  However, to whomever it was that posted their love for Kraft mac & cheese, I share this extreme guilt.  It is a disgusting concoction, but I remember eating it near-weekly growing up alongside hot dogs wrapped in Pillsbury crescent rolls (pigs in a blanket & mac & cheese night!).  I made the meal last week and my intestines suffered greatly, but my tongue was most pleased with me!

I forgot to eat lunch yesterday, but we ordered Domino's pizza for dinner and I ate 5 slices of cheese pizza in one sitting.  Non-pregnant me was completely disgusted with the consumption of such food, but pregnant me apparently eats like a 19 year old frat boy, so I was happy!

I still don't have that much of an appetite. Before I start eating I feel like I could eat tonnes, but by the time I've eaten half of my meal, I'm starting to struggle and have to pace myself. I would love to get my appetite back!

After the successful scan this morning and a satisfying lunch I rewarded myself with a frozen yogurt! I was craving fake strawberry flavor though I ended up with passionfruit and raspberry lemonade ice cream with mochi, brownie bits, raspberry chocolate cups and fresh strawberries. Mmmmmm.

Oh, gosh: I ate a pint (!) of dulce de leche ice cream yesterday. Rationally, I should feel a little bit bad, but I just. don't. care. It was excellent.

Was it the Haagen Dazs one? That is my favourite ice cream ever!

I really want some now!

I've been munching on Choco Zucaritas (chocolate frosted flakes). They started selling 'em at Costco a few months ago and are now available in our regular grocery store. I don't know what it is about these things but they're awesome. Or should I say: "They're grrrrrreat!"

Yesterday I indulged and bought some spicy tuna rolls, really hit the spot. I'm not telling mom or DH about eating sushi or drinking kombucha etc., all those "questionable" foods. I've read plenty of accounts of women who mentioned their nose let them know when they shouldn't eat something and I'm going by my instinct.

I can't say that I've had any weird cravings yet so I'm curious what will happen in this next trimester. My friends who've had kids tell me that's when you get really ravenous...
