Food Cravings - Page 14

suziesmiles, our food coop carries the Equal Exchange cocoa.

Mmmm, burgers and steaks! I'm really hungry for meat these days. And, sadly, Wendy's junior bacon cheeseburgers. I'm hypothesizing that the baby is prompting me to eat greasy, salty, high protein food to make up for the weight loss in first tri. wink1.gif

dakipode - yum, that sounds sooooooo good right now!

haurelia - I will check our co-ops to see if I can find that hot chocolate:) And, I blame all the naughty stuff I eat (as well as any overeating) on the baby:D

I've made hot chocolate/chocolate milk with the kids by just warming whole milk on the stove mixed well with sugar and cocoa powder. It's super simple and you can chill it into chocolate milk. smile.gif

My appetite just exploded this week! I'm 18.5 wks and can't stop eating. Veggies are on the top of my list still funny enough lol And chocolate covered almonds smile.gif.

For breakfast I made ham egg and cheese sandwiches on my left over GF rolls with a huge side of garlic stir fried green beans. Dinner turned into garlic roasted carrots, lemon dressed salad, potatoes with gravy from the pork that I had only 2 bites of and then a ton of papaya. I could have used some more protein since I was very hungry soon after but all those veggies were so yummy!!

Anyone else craving greens?

Me for sure! Had a huge salad for dinner with a delish almond flour bread I baked. Yum!!!

It's weird because I couldn't stand veggies with DD. I need some chocolate milk like now. I have coco powder and sugar and just bought organic whole milk. I hate that wic forces 2% on me because its gross!

Yeah steak would be hard for me too! I just barely got the roasted chicken down. I did a lot better with it in a salad.

Who ever it was that mentioned dips you started a full-on craving for me! I just made a dill dip but this time with sour cream. It was so good with carrots, cheery tomatoes and yes, plain ridged chips!!!

I'm still craving salads so I'm having them with everything. They make me feel healthier as well.

oh mmmm geee...i had a cup of coffee this morning...first one in 53 days (seriously i have been counting)...i have a total aversion to tea (which i usually love) & have been avoiding espresso (because i LOVE it & cannot just have one shot a day)...i usually hate diner style black drip coffee  but i have to say it tasted absolutely marvelous this morning at bunny brunch!

Sort of ... would love to eat them, but hate the thought of having to wash them, since I'm almost constantly cold headscratch.gif

I have to have my coffee every morning Amanda bee. I didn't have any during the first trimester but ever since my second trimester started I have needed it.

Drinking some chocolate milk! Trader Joes organic whole milk + chatfield coco + rapadura! It's pretty primal if you ask me!

Psst: I splashed a little half and half for extra creaminess and chilled in freezer. smile.gif

Yum, that sounds really good!

White bread... I never buy white bread, I've always preferred whole wheat/multi grain etc. But white toast with butter and raspberry jam hit the spot.

Mamamash; I had that exact craving about a month ago, which is not great since I'm gluten intolerant. It was very tasty though! You know what would be really good? Bread and butter pudding, made with both butter and jam spread on the slices of bread. Yum!

This talk of Trader Joe's and In N Out is making me miss home!  Thank heavens we have a Costco in FL or I'd really be hosed!

Cocoa Krispies were on sale at Publix this week.  I have eaten most of one box by myself.  Over the course of a couple of days, so I guess there's that to be positive about!

With my other two pregnancies I craved spicy all the time: Thai red curry and Indian chana or baigan bhartha were my mainstays.  First tri of this pregnancy, I could hardly look at a pepper without feeling bleh.  Finally, though, the second tri hits and I'm back to my old ways - Thai red curry with extra bell pepper strips was for dinner last night and it was SO GOOD I had thirds.  Japanese beef curry for lunch today too, so yum yum!

Aidenn; I'm craving spicy food as well, we're having homemade lamb curry for dinner tonight.
Tomorrow I am going to wean myself off coco pops! I've been doing pretty well at eating healthily, and have already replaced fizzy drinks with water kefir. I'm going to replace my coco pops with smoothies which is a much better alternative! And for the first time since being pregnant, I actually managed to swallow my fermented cod liver oil capsules without any issues! Oh, and my afternoon snack was bacon cooked in butter, yum! I've also got a pot of broccoli and stilton soup made with my homemade chicken stock which should help with my stretching skin and ligaments.

I've lost most of my sushi cravings, which I'm sad about angry.gif I mean, sushi still sounds great and I will never turn it down - but it was great to have the irresistible urge to eat sushi at least once a week whistling.gif

Though I'm hardly eating fish or seafood, so I should get onto that. If I can make it outside today (sick at home, still in bed), I might buy some mussels for dinner.

Ooh gosh muscles and Thai food is like totally the opposite for me lol. I'm all about the bland. So annoying! I used to be so adventurous and live for spicy foods. Now it's all just too rich. Sushi actually does sound good tho. Mostly the pickled ginger. Do you eat raw and not worry? I'm thinking I want to try but living in LA-- finding a decently priced sushi dinner would be HARD. Plus-- what would a super picky 3yo eat there????

I'm all about the spicy food, pregnant or not pregnant. YUM. Unfortunately in my neck of the woods, finding a good Indian food place is pretty much impossible.

tillymonster - We took my DS for sushi recently and he ate teriyaki chicken, a bit of teriyaki beef, some veggies and he loved the bean sprouts that come with some of the other foods smile.gif And yes, I eat raw and don't worry about it as long as I'm at a restaurant whose standards of cleanliness and food handling I trust.

Yes - though I think it's a personal comfort level thing, the only thing I've changed is that I'm not eating tuna and I'll only eat sushi freshly prepared in restaurants I trust.

From what I read, there are two big issues about sushi, or really any type of raw meat. Parasites[*] and the general food preparation stuff which becomes more important for raw stuff. Parasites are mostly taken care of by freezing the fish / meat beforehand and should also be caught by an attentive cook as they inspect the flesh before preparation.

[*] BTW, the biggest vector for toxoplasmosis is not cat litter, but contaminated meat, mostly game.

My DH is so paranoid and says he doesn't want to risk it. Lol how cute yet super annoying.

I don't see the big deal and would probably stick with my personal fave-- salmon. Yum!!!

Now I'm craving spaghetti and meatballs. Good homemade kind. Couldn't even eat the tacos we made last night. Should have made meatballs from them instead. Darn.
