Prenatal yoga, anyone?

You've got to try this if you haven't already! I went for the first time today and loved it! I was skeptical, as yoga seemed like it would be too slow and mellow for me. I'm an ex cross-fitter, boot camp, body building type of workout person - which also means I'm amazingly inflexible, physically, so I was actually a little scared that I wouldn't be able to do it! But, it was amazing, and far more of a workout than sitting on my couch like I've done for the past 5 months. I had a miscarriage just weeks before this pregnancy, and then horrid morning sickness that gets worse with exercise, so I've truly layed around for MONTHS now....ugh. I started to feel so weak, imbalanced and had to do SOMETHING.

Not only was the movement and stretching so wonderful to feel again toeday, but the sense of community with being with 17 other pregnant mamas was wonderful. I bought a ten class pass without thinking twice. I can drop in up to three times a week if I want to - so thrilled to have found this!

Also, it was an awesome time to just sit and spend with my little one - I felt more connected than I do in my regular hustle and bustle. Loved that part. There's a lot of birth prep in this particular class, too - mindfulness practice, breathing exercises, optimum positioning, ect.

If you have the opportunity to try this, I highly recommend it! If a yoga-phobic like me can love it, I'm pretty sure anyone else will, too. :)

I've signed up for my first pre-natal classes at the local rec center... starts in less than two weeks... can't wait!

I love yoga but like you, I've been laying around for months and only now getting back into some kind of work out routine (I WAS used to biking to work both ways, and doing an hour of yoga every morning at 5 am previously in addition to my summer job of working on a farm... so lots of previous exercise but none lately).

I also have tried classes through yogaglo.com and like them because I can find classes at my level and length of time I'm interested in.

I'm on the fence about taking prenatal yoga classes. I have a little background in yoga and occasionally go to a yoga playgroup that a local mom teaches (no cost). I can take my munchkins with me so no worries about childcare. So I'm contemplating continuing to attend and buying a prenatal yoga DVD from Amazon to supplement. But the cost is the main block and Groupon has a deal for 10 classes (over 60 days) for $49 which is an awesome deal...

I love doing prenatal pilates videos. I have a few prenatal yoga videos favorited on youtube that I may try at some point. I just started exercising again since becoming pregnant. I was a regular exerciser before that for around 4 months. It's hard to get back into, but feels good to be off my butt and doing something. Glad you had an enjoyable time sweetmama. I won't pay a gym to go though. It's too expensive and inconvenient for my family. I recently got xbox 360 with kinect too. That's a fun thing to use just for getting up and moving.

Love it. Just did a video this morning. I cried when we all danced with our bumps. Have done a class I loved but was the only one there that was awesome to have the one on one but didn't feel the community vibe. I invited my boyfriend as support but he wanted to practice at home before he did it again, argh. I thought it was about supporting the momma. Gonna do more though. Gonna try some other places too.

Let me dig around my DVD's before you buy one, I believe I have one somewhere! And that IS a GREAT deal!!! WOW!

My local studio just started to offer a prenatal yoga session on the weekends and I LOVE it. I feel more accountable if I go to a class. I mean I had this DVD I mentioned above to allisonrose and I don't know where I even put it. Working out in my house is just not an option for me! Plus I love meeting momma's who are due in my area as well.

I've been going to a level 1/prenatal ok class for over a year.  It was part of my healthy living for TTC.  When my energy was really low it was difficult for me to go and get through the class.  I went a couple times more recently and I was able to get through class much more easily.  I haven't been the last couple weeks because of weather and schedules, but I plan on going this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it.  At my last class, I talked to another pregnant lady for the first time.  We are the same amount along.  It was fun.  I am also looking forward to going to the classes that are just for prenatal but they are in the evenings during the week, and it's harder to get to those for me.  We are going to buy a car soon, and that should make it much easier.  It will be fun to be in a room full of pregnant ladies and just focus on being pregnant and doing yoga.

I've had such major anxiety this week, really struggling a lot - and counting on my class this weekend to provide some relief. I'm not sure that it will, but I'm interested to find out how much better I can feel (emotionally, as well as physically) after I go.

I have been doing yoga since age 12 with my hippy dad, but I feel like a constant beginner because I just can't get it in often enough to really be flexible. Does anyone have a prenatal video they love? I would love to practice more and working 6 days a week has made it hard to make classes.

I tried out a prenatal class last week, but I've decided to stick with my regular class for a few more months (my teacher is aware that I'm pregnant and keeps a close eye on me in case I need any modifications).  For me, it was just a little too laid back, but I think that as I get nearer to my due date it will be a nice preparation for birth and a good opportunity to connect with some other local mamas.

Anybody have any recommendations for where to buy maternity workout clothes?  I went to the gym last night and my clothes are just not fitting.  I am trying to find a wicking top and I'm having a hard time.  What I did find is rather expensive.  I have some yoga pants that are fine.  I got those at Old Navy.

Yeah - i was going to say Old Navy maternity yoga pants. I have a hard time finding them in stores, so I buy online. I also search at thrift stores, although I haven't had a ton of luck there for some reason.
