Hi everyone. I am brand new to this forum. I am single and 38 and do not have any children. I would love to be a mother and am starting to save money so I can begin the adoption process in a few years. I would like to have a bio child if I get married, but I am not going to count on it. I'm not trying to be controversial, promise. Has anyone else thought of adopting when single? Is it unfair to the child somehow? Is it too difficult to try alone? I am brand new to the whole process and thought this forum would be a good place to better understand the process. Thanks for putting up your stories, everyone.
I dont have any experience with domestic newborn adoption if thats what you are talking about by "adopting" but i have adopted three children (one single, one sib group of two) as a single mom through foster care and know lots of single women who have adopted through foster care. And it doesnt really cost anything (and in many cases depending on your state the child may qualify for post adoption subsidy which is a monthly check the state sends you until the child turns 18.)
