What vitamins are you taking?

My husband is now asking if I've "taken my alphabet today" instead of vitamins because I've got a slew of stuff to take lol. I'm not good at taking them, but trying to get better...

I was taking Natures Way Prenatal capsules which were fine, until I realized I was supposed to be taking *4* per day! yikes2.gif I misread the label and thought it was 2/day but it was supposed to be 2/2xday. I've not really been able to do that at all so now that I'm finally out, I bought the Rainbow Light 1/day which I should have just gotten in the first place.

I'm also taking a B Complex to help with iron absorption along with the other things B vitamins are good for.

2000iu of vit D since I live in WA and we only see the sun a few weeks out of the year (I try to take this regularly, even when not pregnant)

Floradix iron capsules - I'm chronically anemic and couldn't stomach the liquid with my last pregnancy so I thought I'd try the capsules this time. I just started them yesterday, but so far so good. Hopefully they don't constipate *too* badly.

Femdopholus probiotic - on the recommendation of my MW. Though I'm not overly concerned with GBS, she says that her clients that take this almost never test positive. I'm also hoping it helps prevent the aforementioned constipation...

So, what are you guys taking? How's it going?

I am bad at taking my stuff...I try, usually, but the last few years of taking supplements to help wipe out vicious systemic candida have me worn out!

But for the most part...this is what I can think of off the top of my head....

-Armour

-Drenamin (to support my adrenals...also have an herbal tincture version)

-CLO (fermented)- this is my vitamin D supplement usually (not in WA, but in OR/ID and we are under a terrible inversion the majority of the winter...ick)

-VitaNatal OR Catalyn as a multi...though I'm bad at getting this one in

-Stress Complex (B-vits)

-Selenium

-Zinc

-Vitamin E (wheat germ oil)

-Vitamin C (will stop with this in a few weeks)

-I am a probiotic nut...I take a huge variety, alternating them most days. (there's no way I could get- or stomach- enough fermented -foods to be adequate for my broken gut!)  The ones I can recall are VSL #3, ThreeLac, L. Rueteri, and BioKult, but I really like Dr. Ohira's too.

-Cell Salts

-I'm also back taking my enzymes again

Of course I rely on my tea for a lot of good stuff too. :)

I am taking:

Vitamin D emulsion (one drop per day)
rainbow Light prenatals
Vit c. 500 mg extra every few days
Cal/mag if I remember it
Milk thistle

When the MWs did my initial panel, I was upset that I had not asked what they were testing for, as the whole panel cost so much. However, when my Vit D came back at 28 (!!!!!!), I was so thankful we had a heads-up on that issue. Living in alaska, vitamin d is hard to come by.

I've had a hard time stomaching Prenatals all through out. And did the chewable flinstone thing for a little while but that didn't feel so healthy... So my DH found me a powder vitamin complex mix to add to my shakes every morning. And I take folic acid in addition and everything seems to be going well. I took a lot of vitamins before I got pregnant but... I was also being really restrictive with my diet trying to lose weight, so I needed them. I eat a tons now lol and a good variety so I think I'm getting most what I need from my eating smile.gif

I am not taking pre-natals.

I'm taking folgard (high doses of folic acid, b6 and b12) this is preventative because I have a hx of miscarriage. I am also taking a low-dose aspirin because of this.

I also take vitamin d3 - 3000 and fish oil.

Firespirit, how are the floradix tablets? I actually bought a huge bottle of floradix earlier on and it was so gross that I ended up throwing it all out :(. I took it last time, but this time I just couldn't handle it.

I have the Floradix tablets...they are just like any tablet vitamin IMO.  They only start to taste more like the Floradix liquid if you let it sit in your mouth.  I have a Mountain Meadow Herbs Herbal Iron tincture that I really like, I think it works really well since it's so easily assimilated.

wow you all are taking a lot! I'm just taking a prescription prenatal and extra folic acid.

Yeah....I wish I could be on to go without anything at all, but I know I definitely don't get the best nutrition even when I eat perfectly.  I just have a very broken gut and it's taking a lot to heal it...  Thankfully my chiro is on top of keeping my supplements of good, real food quality.  And about 4-5 of the things I'm taking are necessary for my thyroid issues.  I would love to forego vitamins all together and just stick with chlorella and spirulina, but I have to be careful with the seaweeds with Hashi's.  They've contributed to raising my antibodies before.

So far, so good with the Floradix tablets. I'm 3 days in and no additional constipation yet.

I can't remember which iron level is which, but one is supposed to be around 20 or something like that and you're considered anemic if you're lower then that. In WA you "risk out" of a hb if you drop below 10. When mine was checked a week before DD3 was due, I was at an 8 so I had to do some quick work to bring it back up but man oh man that floradix liquid was torture to take. I had to do it 3x a day and couldn't keep it down at least half the time :( That combined with eating only foods that had "100% daily iron" and yellow dock and spoonfulls of molasses got it up to like 10.8 or something like that, just in the nick of time (like a week AFTER she was due, but a few days before she was born lol

I wish I was better about taking the vitamins too, but I'm doing some things different now to help me remember. Like keeping them on the book case near where I sit on the couch at night so they're right in my line of sight. At my apt on Friday we're doing the GD test and checking my iron again, so I'm trying to be extra extra good this week so it isn't a "cause for concern" later. I've never had any issues with bleeding or not clotting, so even if it's low, I'm not worried about it, I just don't want to get "risked out"!
