I have a deadline of tomorrow to resubmit a revision, so it has to get done :)

I have non-realistic deadlines for 2/15 but I'll extend that into the weekend and hopefully I'll have it all done by Monday.

Great thread! I am an associate professor in math at a large university and I also need to catch up on some research and writing. I am currently on sabbatical in Europe, school schedules for my 2 kids (8 and 6) are terrible since I have to pick them up very early, younger one (3) is home with DH; sooo.... I would love to have more scheduled time for my writing. I tried to put it in my google calendar, but I always give other things a higher priority, so those writing blocks don't get done.

I am also trying to stay off the web so I will try not to post here daily :), but rather weekly.

Weekly goals:

 -- read FT paper

-- read undergrad paper and make list of editing work that needs to be done

 -- work on KRS estimates

By the end of March:

-- have final draft of undergrad paper done

-- start working on draft of KR paper

-- write some partial results for the KRS paper.

Doable, let's see if I can do it!

Welcome dulci_mami!  I'm on a research leave in Europe right now, too.  (And also spending an inordinate amount of time with school drop-offs and pick-ups, with my 6 and 9 yo).  My dh was on a trip last week, so I had both drop-offs and pick-ups.  Lots of time on the metro.  Not so much time writing.

But I HAVE been writing - yay!  CR draft report is almost done.

Goals:

2/19: Finish up CR draft report and send to colleague  Finished it and emailed it off!

2/20: Write and submit conference abstract Done and submitted

2/21: Outline PV paper, Read thesis project #1 Outline done, but not very well; Finished reading thesis on 2/22

2/22: Read thesis #2; Write 2 paragraphs on PV paper Not done by 2/22

Long-term goals:

PV paper by end of April - I just signed up to submit this to a special issue of a journal, so it has a deadline.  Maybe that means it will get done!

CR report done by mid-March - this also has a deadline!

Rav paper dusted off by end of May - no deadline here, which is why it has dragged on and on

I need to get better about posting.  Ultimately, I think I need to get better about setting goals.

Goals this week:

3/5: 1 hr on depo; 1 hr on PV; get code working; Make detailed to do lists to better focus time

3/6: Read MB paper; 1 hr on CR report; 1 hr on depo slides; Run code

3/7: 1 hr on CR report; Make figures for CR report; 1 hr on PV/code

3/8: Finish depo slides; Finish CR report - Neither finished, but I did get some good work done on each.

Overall Goal:

Get better about setting goals.

Oops - set better goals, eh?

3/11: Depo slides; CR 30 min; PV 1 hr

3/12: PV (first!) 1 hr; Finish CR report; Finish depo slides

3/13: PV 2 hrs; Assemble model results - model still not working properly

3/14: Forgot to make goals here - oops

3/15: Read/comment on TF manuscript; PV 1hr; Depo slides 30 min

I've good at setting goals, I'm just not good at reaching those goals   :)

I was doing pretty good this semester until my husband tells me two weeks ago that he wants to buy a house right then. We made an offer that night (we were not looking for a new house). The inspection negotiation is finished and we are closing mid-April. I just spent the past two days packing boxes so that we can get our house ready to sell. This has put a stop to all my work productivity, as I have to get the house ready before I leave on April 7 for a month in the field. Yeah, I won't be here for the closing and possibly the moving and selling of the current house.  I have a permanent eye twitch and a knot in my shoulder because of this. I know we will be happier in the end so I'm trying to think of the end result.

3/14 and 3/15 grade those HW's I've been putting off because I hate to grade!!!

I'll come up with new goals for the next week over the weekend when I see where we are at getting the house ready.
