Who's in maternity clothes already?

I am 11 weeks and just did my first "maternity shop."

Anyone else with me? How did you know "it was time"? What did you get and how much was it? What are you putting off getting? (obviously FTM questions!)

I knew it was time to stop running around in unbuttoned pants when I lost my BellyBand, and even with the "hair tie trick" my low-rise pants nearly fell off as I was getting out of the car... LOL!! I can still wear my more forgiving things, but most of my pants are high waist skinny styles that just weren't playing along.

I went to a motherhood maternity outlet and I got... 2 pairs of "panel" jeans 3 stretchy tank top undershirts 2 sets of PJs with nursing tops (looking ahead!) Boppy pregnancy pillow (<3!! I can cuddle again!) Maternity panties (immediate wedgie... plan to return) It was just over $300; which I think is reasonable since they are basics I think I'll still be wearing throughout and again with the next.

So far, my shirts and sweaters are still OK, so I am holding off on that and getting some cotton sundresses and so on once it starts warming up. I don't want to stock up on maternity sweaters that'll be too hot soon.

I have a bin of maternity clothes that I'm no rush to get into! I haven't gained any weight yet although my jeans arent as comfortable as they used to be.  Everything else fits okay.  I might bust out the pants soon

I loved the maternity summer dresses. I had 3 or 4 that I wore almost every day last time

I am in maternity pants, they just feel so much gentler on the belly.  I have a few maternity shirts that I am starting to wear.   My wardrobe this winter was in need of a few pieces because I have lost weight, and my maternity pieces are 'new' to me.   I have been fortunate to get some pieces secondhand from a friend because I had given all my stuff away.   I am browsing the maternity websites for other pieces but will try to hold off for short sleeve options so that I can get some use out of them for summer and while nursing.

I had to buy pants (two pairs), and a few long sleeves but will probably make do until it gets warmer. My bigger sweaters are seeing some serious use.
There is a tutorial somewhere online for making scrunch side tshirts with a bit of elastic so I will probably do that this spring.

My problem is that i dont have much clothes , which can also be a great thing. But i feel i need some more anyway, so i am thinking of the best versatile multiuse stuff. So far i am thinking to get a wrap around skirt. Then i want to find longer tunic style ones, as long as it covers my butt, but i search &dont find what i want, i am picky, i like plain&simple, not styled like most everything is. I just dont have clothes shopping experience. For now my legging are my staple for keeping warm under skirts or unbuttoned pant but thats not working-tucking everything into my legging 5x a day&feeling lumpy, but it all hides under my big sweaters. I am worried about shoes, i am due for those too, so thinking ahead.

Also wondering if my winter coat will fit all winter, its not tight, i just cant imagine how much i will grow. I gained 10lbs almost finished with first trimester.

I have been in maternity pants for a few weeks. I am a FTM, but my pants were getting really tight on my tummy. I have not gained any weight, I am still down a few pounds due to morning sickness and the flu. But My tummy is definitely more out there than before, and I just like to be comfortable. My first trip to Motherhood Maternity Outlet cost me about $150, and I got some panties, 2 pairs of work pants (dress) and I couple of shirts. I don't think I will buy much more shirts, more towards the end or if I can get them used. All my shirts and sweaters still fit, but I like the lose style.... Where it is lose around the middle and kind of snugs your hips. I did have to buy new bras, and have already outgrown those. So I need to buy new ones of those again.

I lost a bunch of weight during the first trimester so my pants fit a lot looser. I have two belly bands that I am putting to good use over unbuttoned jeans. I will probably try to keep out of maternity wear until spring, though I might buy two pairs of jeans. Being so tall means that I have to shop online for maternity pants making finding affordable clothes a real pain. Consignment and thrift stores are my best friends for the other essentials.

I've had to wear my work pants unbuttoned a few times under big sweaters and I plan to buy some maternity tights soon. My work dresses will be better than pants but my tights are too tight at the waist and its too cold to go without. Need some new bras too. For those who had to get new bras this time or previously, did you go up in band size or just cup? I want to get a new sports bra and the 34 DD fits ok while the 36 fits on the tightest hooks. Do you think I'll expand more in the band? If not then the 36 will end up being too big as it stretches, but I want to get one thst will last awhile as good workout bras aren't cheap. Normally I wear a 34D. Oh, also, would love recs for maternity tights, not hose, if any one has some they love. Thanks!

It's amazing how much people's bodies vary in response to pregnancy! I both WANT and bump... but also don't yet because I just look fatter, lol. It KINDA looks like a pregnancy bump... kinda more like a food baby. I'll be happy when it's obviously baby and not burrito in there!

I am loving the panel pants. They are SO much more comfy, but I am worried I should have gotten the XLs. I was a size 12/14 and got the large ones, and they fit my hips and legs now, but I didn't think about widening hips and general weight gain... oops.

I am worried about my coats too! I like a fitted style, and my down jacket is already feeling the strain a little bit. Be careful! My future-MIL says she was too stubborn to buy a new coat 'till she burst her zipper... then she needed two new coats! I am going to try and just keep warm even if they are unzipped/unbuttoned, since Spring is coming! (eventually)

i have been in pregnancy jeans almost from the beginning--just because they are so comfortable and i didn't like anything on my belly.  i had kept my favorites from my last pregnancy and slowly pulling out pieces...i just this week discovered 2 leggings that were given to me last time that are so comfortable with boots and a log shirt/dress. :) great for work and transitions comfortably to around the house :) i actually hardly bought anything last time because i had two ladies pass on clothes (1 pregnancy 1 not)...but they worked great for pregnancy. i have definitely already grown into my pregnancy underwear from last time...and couldn't fit in any of my normal pants at this point. i am much rounder than i was at this point in pregnancy last time--but i didn't vomit much this time whereas i did daily last time.

i will need to buy a few things i think when we get out of winter--maybe some shorts or skirt towards the last few months. i remember being really warm towards the end & it was a february baby last time, so with a july babe--i think i'll need some pretty cool clothes early on, but we'll see :)  for now i am comfortably happy. :) i love maternity clothes! cute and comfortable! and thrift stores are great for those who enjoy a good find!

I've been wearing yoga pants and got some maternity yoga pants as well. I didn't start wearing the maternity ones until I was like 12 weeks. I'm a 4th time mom though.

I have to buy some more maternity tops because I've got a long torso and my regular shirts are getting too short. I am not planning on having more kids after this, so although I don't want my clothes falling apart, I am not willing to pay premium prices for maternity clothes. I bought 2 pairs of mat. yoga pants and one mat. shirt from walmart so far. I think I'll order more from JC Penney online. Where I used to live they had a mat. section in store, but they don't have one here even though this city is way bigger, annoying. But, oh well, they have nice stuff, deliver for free to their store and accept returns at the store if something fits weird. I'd recommend their clothes. They are not very expensive and good quality.

I just bought some, including some some from the gap on-line. I'm not wearing them yet (still in the larger pants I bought at the beginning when I was feeling bloated and awful). However, I strongly suspect I need some stuff for work later this month (thankfully, since I work from home 90% of the time I can wear yoga pants and sweatshirts most of the time). I did just order a larger pair of yoga pants that will hopefully fit throughout the pregnancy (since they'll fit below my belly) - yay for a super REI coupon and discount!  I'd love to find a resale store or consignment place that -doesn't- specialize in high end/designer maternity wear--since I wouldn't buy that stuff even if i weren't pregnant.

Can someone explain how the demipanel pants are supposed to fit anyway (at least this early - 14weeks)? The smaller size fits now with a bit of stretch, the bigger is....bigger (and a little bubbly in the but/hips), but I don't want to have to buy 2 sets of clothes to get myself through the 3rd tri, given that I don't go into the office all that much.

I'm not yet, my "fat pants" fit pretty well. I've actually lost about 10 pounds so far, and since I'm already over weight, I'm not supposed to gain more than 15-20 pounds. I did make a trip out to Thyme and pick up a couple pairs of pants and a cute top because they were having a sale. Husband and I are planning a trip to the states to get some cheaper clothes/baby supplies.

I remembered JC Penney being more reasonable than they were when I was looking online this morning. They were too pricey for me. I think I always bought mine with the old coupons and percent off things they had all the time back a year ago or so. I'm going to buy from walmart even though I don't like to do that if I can avoid it. We're too poor right now. Oh well. At least walmart has more maternity clothes styles available online now. I like the planet motherhood stuff so far.

I still haven't told most people at work - was waiting to hear a heartbeat which won't be till 13 weeks - the week after next.  I'm getting tired of hiding under bulky sweaters, though, and today I just couldn't do it so it's pretty obvious with this outfit (if you were looking) that something fishy is going on.  I'm waiting for someone to say something because I'm at that fun stage where that could be super awkward and people will wonder but not ask. I'm toying with them a little, I guess because I'm in a new group and they don't know me at all.  Maybe this is mean, I'm not sure. ;)

I still have a pair of jeans and 2 pairs of work pants that fit for now.  I have 2 work shirts that fit and 2 casual shirts so it's time to go shopping this weekend, I think.  When I'm at home I just wear the same stuff over and over again but at work that doesn't cut it so off to the store I go.  I'm hoping to get a few staples for work and dress them up with scarves, jackets, sweaters and things I already have.

About the bra question posed earlier - the last times I went up in band size as well as cup size.  I'm short waisted, though, so I don't know if that makes a difference.  In Canada maternity selection, especially for bras, is extremely limited so I get the right cup size and the smallest band size possible (always way too big) and then move to a non-maternity soft cup bra soon after the birth for nursing.

I have not bought any pants yet, but I did break down and get a belly band. I don't have to leave the house often, so I wear pjs and yoga pants more often than I want to admit. I had to go up a bra cup size at around 11 weeks, and I think I need to go up a band size now (13 weeks). My sweet mama sent me 3 maternity tops that I thought I wouldn't be using until much later, but they are so comfy and long that I am loving them. They cover up the belly band (or rubber band) nicely and don't gap like a lot of my other shirts/sweaters are starting to do.

I am probably going to have to break down and buy a maternity coat, though, as we're just getting started with winter in NH and the nice full-length down coat I bought last year is definitely starting to strain!

Last pregnancy arrived about the same time as this one and I remember that with the 1st I only started to buy maternity clothes sometime in February and now I'm really disappointed that I'll have to go to get myself some trousers. But I hope I will lose all the extra weight as quickly as I did before and this keeps me going....on eating eat.gif

So I'm 11 weeks now and I'll do some shopping on Sunday.

13 weeks here and although I can wear my jeans (due to some weight loss), they're not comfortable if I have to sit for very long. So, I too am living in my comfy pants (pj bottoms and yoga pants). I've been checking eBay in hopes of finding a lot, so I can get several pieces in one fell swoop and for a decent price.
