Who's in maternity clothes already? - Page 2

I'm SO glad I saw this thread. I too feel like i have a 'food' baby. I just feel like i look kinda pudgy, and that my baby bump is in my eyes only. At least my husband stop asking me if I was sticking out my tummy when we take pictures. Haha.  My mom spoiled me and got me quite a few maternity tops/sweaters/etc at Target and I've been wearing them every day! I too, like another poster, kinda lacked on clothes int he first place so it was a nice infusion to the wardrobe. I've also been gifted a Belly Band that I use in conjunction with a hair tie. I've got two new pairs of maternity pants but I haven't worn them yet.

I've been wearing leggings, yoga or sweat pants most of the time as I find them most comfortable. I dig out my pregnancy jeans from a box in the basement but haven't worn them yet. My regular jeans are getting pretty tight though so I will be soon.

Ha!  I'm just about 13 weeks and have been walking around with my fly down for weeks now, hoping my pants don't fall off in public somewhere.  I finally broke down a week ago and bought a pair of maternity jeans (HOORAY!) and it is utter heaven not to have pants squeezing me.  The only downside is that I'm usually a size zero or two and it was hard to find maternity jeans without huge, baggy hips.  I tend to just get the belly, not the wide hips, while pregnant, so I don't need the extra room in that area.  I managed to find some at Motherhood at a nearby mall.  They're great, and I think they were under $30.

I'm not in maternity clothes yet and I think I can still button all of my pants but some of them are getting tiiiiiggggghhhht! My husband gave me a bella band for Christmas and I LOVE it! Anyone considering whether or not it's worth it, I'd say give it a try. In fact I think it would be good to have even if I wasn't pregnant. I have a pair of lower-rise jeans that were always a little too big in the waist and the bella band makes them much more comfortable and wearable. And with my too-tight pants, I've done the unbuttoned/unzipped thing with the bella band and it really works.

Since I am a first time mama it might be several more weeks before I'm really showing/needing to wear different clothes.

Am looking forward to doing some DIY sewing projects for more clothes this spring.

Also, doesn't it seem AWESOME that we will be at our biggest in the summer? Hello, cute dresses all the time!

I bought a couple of maternity bras at a Motherhood outlet super-cheap, but I'm not happy with them. This model: http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=993890361&MasterCategory_Id=MC29. They are VERY ITCHY. I am hoping that more washing will make them more comfortable but maybe not... quality of Motherhood Maternity stuff seems not so great - what do you guys think? I keep reading about how important supportive bras are so I have bought a couple of Moving Comfort sports bras which I am very happy with.

Not in maternity clothes yet but about to go get some pants out of the attic. I personally would not use the term "awesome" to describe being the biggest in the summer. But I live in Alabama where it is super hot and humid in the summertime. I like to wait as long as possible to get into the maternity clothes because I don't have very many and can't afford to buy much more and I get tired of wearing the same thing all the time.

I usually buy nursing bras and wear them at the end of my pregnancy. The best ones I've gotten were ordering online from JC Penny's. I hate motherhood bras they don't fit right and aren't very supportive.

I've been in maternity clothes for a few weeks now. I definitely look pregnant (a lot of it is bloat lol). This is my third child but I hated most of my old mat clothes when I pulled them out, and a lot of them had shrunk or lost their shape, so I went on a shopping spree and spent over $600 on basically a new wardrobe. It makes me feel good! There is so much more stylish stuff out there for mamas to be these days! H&M was amazing.

Is there a non synthetic belly band out there anywhere?
Anyone have opinions on wrap around skirt vs strechy waist band kind? I dont know if i will get wider hips so i am wondering if one is safer than the other. Guess i better just try one soon. I thought maybe strechy waist band would strech out but maybe its okay. Maybe wrap around will fit tighter cause of the way you tie it? I guess if my hips grow i wont pop out of a skirt right away anyway. I am too perfectionist, looking for the thing that will always fit, now&later.

If you sew, you can make your own belly bands, including out of clothing you already have. 100% cotton tshirts could work as the material. Look for tutorials online.

The bella band I bought has a silicone strip along the bottom that grips onto your pants in the thigh area (it would not touch your skin). The silicone seems to make a big difference in how well it works. However, the overall material of the bella band is 100% synthetic which is not my preference either!

I noticed that ebay is selling used bella bands for much cheaper than retail. They may be older model (without synthetic strip) but just FYI if you want to save $.

Here we go ~ a store called Franchesca's in the mall (at least the malls I've been to) and another store reflecting the word Earth in the name has pants that wrap around and fit to your comfort.  Oh how I wish now that I had a pair!!

I am wearing maternity pants or leggings most days but I do have some size M from New York that came with a stretch waist versus button/zip and I can wear them comfortably.  I can still wear my normal shirts though.  I've also found that my stretchy skirts have not worn out or stretched too much and after several kids they still look fine.

I should get one of those. My hips are very wide and my waist is pretty small, so tank tops etc usually ride up. I notice that I have to pull my belly band down about every other minute, because it rolls up. The strip would really help!

Can I complain for a moment about the expense of buying a whole new wardrobe? grump.

Yup. I'm with you. And I'm going to need some business/business casual clothes for the 1x every two months I actually go into the office. I'm not thrilled at ALL about that.

Business clothes are the worst.  If I was not working outside the home I would have 2 pairs of jeans and a few nice shirts and call it a day.  ok, well, maybe not quite that sparse, but seriously.

I'm 15 weeks but have been in maternity jeans since 9 weeks. I was super bloated and couldn't stand anything tighter against my belly. Bought a couple tops that were too big and now I'm getting into them. I've been wearing my same tops but have had to buy a couple maternity tops because I need more length. My belly hasn't expanded too much but the top of my belly has where I guess my organs and whatnot are being pushed up are. I do need more tops now though. Its exciting.

I have a professional job, but I can generally get away with leggings and dresses/skirts, which are pregnancy-friendly. I'm anticipating that I will be able to wear some of my knit dresses that I already have through the spring and I definitely won't have to buy work-specific clothes such as maternity suits. I see that stores sell "maternity leggings" which kind of confuse me. The waistbands of my leggings are pretty stretchy so when would I need to wear maternity leggings? Are they more comfortable because you wear them over your bump?

Also fortunately, the small amount of formal business clothes I have were a size too big to begin with (I must have had an off day when I was shopping for them last year), so I'll be able to wear them for quite a while.

I've been in maternity clothes since 8 weeks.  Actually, a few of the shirts I bought for my first pregnancy are starting to get too short!  I don't want to think about what I'm going to look like in July.

I totally agree with the grumpiness... I just got a 2nd batch of clothes due to the "shirts too short" issue, as well as to take advantage of the spring clothes from last year now on DEEP discount at outlet stores.

Seriously... give that a try! In Denver there's a few outlet malls and I found one Eddie Bauer outlet that was seriously exciting to me. All their spring stuff is $5-15 an item!! At the Motherhood outlet it was about the same. Spring and summer clothes were $9.99 for shorts and skirts and $20 for a pair of khakis... another $25 for a bathing suit.

I am traveling to the beach in March, so I really wanted to nail down these summer things earlier than otherwise necessary up in Denver!

ALSO... is anyone else annoyed by the S, M, L model of sizing for maternity pants? I mean... really? I am somewhere between L and XL and it is pretty annoying. If my thighs get even just kind of fatter, I'm not sure all the L pants I got will still fit, but the XLs were really bunchy in the butt/crotch area...

WHY would you cram 16+ sizes into 4? It's just cruel.

I have some yoga pants from target that I wear pretty much everyday. Leggings, to be fancy, on others. ;-)

Some shirts are starting to get a little snug now, but I'm not big on maternity clothes, so I will manage until it gets warmer when I will get some tank tops to wear with skirts.

I much prefer to be naked, though. ;-) I feel suffocated in clothes, even my watch makes me feel claustrophobic...
