How can I only have 6 weeks to go?

I've been so wrapped up in my family and birth doula clients that it really just hit me that I'm 34 weeks pregnant!! I had my last client's birth over the weekend and now it is time for me to order my homebirth supplies.

This pregnancy has literally flown by! I'm a little sad that I haven't slowed down a bit more since it is my last.

I have 4 weeks and 2 days left until my due date, which translates into just over 3 weeks left of work (15 days of actually going in to my office)...

...not that I'm counting or anything orngbiggrin.gif

Yeah, I am down to 4 weeks and 1 day!!!! and excited about it.

I feel pretty darn ready to greet this one.  I have the clothes washed and packs of diaper bought (and cloth ones washed for after 3 months). I don't really do anything else to get ready.  Hoping to organize the girls clothes and toys, but if it doesn't happen, oh well.

Hurray for the home stretch!

It's crazy that I could have a baby in my arms in 2 weeks. DS2 was born at 38 wks so I'm sort of hoping that happens again (hey, I'm ready for the next step here!) but also fine with waiting a bit longer and getting more organized.

I'M NOT READY!!!!!

Okay, I have longer than the rest of y'all, given that I'm due March 1 and it's my first (I like to hope-- as long as I'm not horrifically uncomfortable-- I'll go to 41 weeks).  And I don't have LOADS of things to do for baby...  Besides regular exercise and MWs appointments and BlissBorn (hypnosis for birth), I only have maybe 10 hours of "must-dos" left on my "baby" list.  Maybe 15 if I want to be uber-prepared.  Okay, no problem, right?  That leaves me with like 2 hours/week of work to do if I go to 40 weeks.  Except I have tons and tons of things to prep with DH for our business to be in a good, (relatively) non-stressed place for the baby's first couple of months.  It's ridiculous.  Hundreds of hours of work, most of it pretty critical.

I admit I'm jealous of third-trimester folks (obvs not everyone here!) who are either SAHMs or WOHMs with regular "routines" and who don't have big must-finish work projects on their plates with looming deadlines.  I have it awesome in major ways, working for myself with DH now at my side.  But here and there I fantasize about how nice it would be to have a 9-to-5 job that you "leave" at the job site...  something a little more task-oriented, like retail, or admin work.  But then I remind myself of the great upside I have...  Or I try to remind myself, LOL!

I have 5 weeks left til my due date - my other kids have been born between 39 & 41 weeks - so 4-6 weeks i'm telling myself.  which sounds like more than 5 weeks somehow.

Its going so fast though! I am freaking out a little but in reality -  I have accomplished a TON of stuff since christmas - I am finishing up my to-do list, I''m picking up my birth pool tomorrow, will get it blown up in a couple weeks. pretty much all the birth supplies are ready..   I'm trying to get last min house projects hired out (painting some new cabinets and installing our backsplash, should be done in 2-3 weeks at the MOST)  Its VERY good that this stuff is done because I'm getting busy again with homeschooling activities, my kids are constantly getting sick or getting hurt and i am WORN OUT.  The majority of what is left on my list is cooking/baking and i'm hoping for a few good snow days or really cold days to stay in and bake all day.. this week it is not going to happen, but maybe next week or the week after..

6 1/2 weeks! Ahhhh! So close.

I have 27 days until my due date!!!!! in a lot of ways I am SO READY, but in a lot of ways I am freaking out a little. DS2 was 11 days "late" so I am expecting to go late again (and will be pleasantly surprised if he is born on time!), so I may have a few more days built in at the end..... I've gotten 90% of my birth supplies together, got my "just in case" hospital bag packed (planning a homebirth but my MW has us pack a bag just in case of transfer, which is fine with me because I like to be extra-prepared!), all the baby stuff is ready (clothes, bassinett, etc).... I don't have much left to do! But I am freaking out a bit about taking care of 3 kids, especially the nighttime, as DS2 is still a bit clingy to me and both my kids are really light sleepers.. DH is awesome and helps as much as possible with the nighttime/early morning (DS1 is a 5 AM riser), but sometimes DS2 will have nothing but MAMA. *sigh* I suppose it will all work out!

I am also a little more scared of the pain of labor this time, but other than that, I really CANT WAIT to hold this squishy baby in my arms!! Newborn snuggles are the absolute BEST! ..and we also have plans for no visitors for at least 48 hours after birth this time (other than grandparents helping out with the big boys), and have lots of help for the big boys in place (grandparents willing to take them to their house or stay here with them, whichever we prefer!.. plus DH will be taking a week or so off of work!) so I am really looking forward to enjoying some quiet days with my new baby.... Something I felt "robbed" of the first two times.. DS1 being a hospital birth and we had a LOT of visitors in the hospital, and with DS2 we were a revolving door of visitors the first couple days (and not the helpful "let me play with your 2 year old or do some dishes or bring you food" kind of visitors either, it was the "let me hold your NEW BABY" visitors) and I really regret that.

anyway-- we are getting SO CLOSE! =D

I am curious, which ones were born at which gestation?? My DS1 was induced, but my dates were wrong and we thought he was at 42 weeks, but later I realized that he was actually induced a day after my due date should have been, so right at 40 weeks (and he was 9 lbs 3 oz and almost 22 inches long, and I was already 4 cm dilated, so he was plenty ready lol!). With DS2 I got my due date right (based on ovulation rather than LMP) and we went to almost 42 weeks.... So I am really not sure when this baby will be born!!!! I'm planning to be ready by 38 weeks (I am a planner and like to be prepared anyway!) but really don't expect him before 41ish weeks.... though a 40 week baby would be nice!!!!

yeah- i've gone back and tried to figure that out too.... but it's been confusing!

DS1 was due March 15th by ovulation (my numbers) but Feb 23rd by LMP- so the midwives only gave me until March 3rd for a due date, and induced him on March 9th.  he was born March 10th, according to them 41 weeks, but according to my best dates, 39 weeks!

DD1 was conceived same month of the year, a week earlier, and was born March 21st natural labor.  1000x easier than induction!  and so much faster!  so she would have been 41 weeks 2 days.

DD2 was a surprise, but by best guesses, she was due Oct 16th based on my best guess at ovulation (which since we were using protection and traveling was rather mysterious).  She WAS a full 42 weeks!  44 weeks by LMP.  my midwife was willing to let me wait since it was my 3rd child.  she was hung up by her head and hand in a super-long umbilical cord.  finally i had to push her out b/c she wasn't going anywhere.  she's still like that..... nut.gif

DD3 was another surprise and we guessed at due date by our best estimate at ovulation (and ignored LMP due to measurements and history), and she was born 2 days before her due date by that calculation.  so 39 weeks 5 days, or 40 weeks almost on the button.

This one we actually were charting and know the day (and knew that day) we conceived, so we're curious if dates will work better!  once again, not by LMP though (since that's not been very helpful) but by O.  due date by O is Feb 7th!

I'm totally not in an emotional place to have this little baby just yet. I need to finish up my birth clients postpartum stuff and then paint my bedroom. I think after that I will be more in the "I can have a baby anyday" zone.

i'm so glad that my due date was changed. i mean, not changed per say, but corrected. when my husband asked the doctor why our due date kept changing, she looked at us like we were nuts. she didn't realize that someone had typed in the wrong date for us twice, and that we were super confused. i'm glad he is my brain right now, because for all these months i have never asked about it, even though it bugs me. it went from the 11th to the 14th to the 17th. now she's changed it to the 11th to correspond to HER date (and mine) from when she did my initial ultrasound and exam, since the bigger baby gets the more ultrasounds can be skewed. she said that most moms would be super pissed if they lost 6 days of their pregnancy all of a sudden. hubby said yeah, she was, but she just ignored it and went by her own schedule. eyesroll.gif

i guess i'm more easy going.

went to my local la leche league meeting yesterday and am SO happy that i did. met a lot of local moms. we are all so different-but not. we also have a local mom's club international group that meets in an hour, but i cannot risk being around a ton of children and people right now with the flu being as bad as it is here.
