for those who've taken the NARM

I'm going to sit for the NARM in February and I have a question.

I've been told by those who took the NARM average of 10 years ago that it tended to lean more towards Varneys for the questions because back then Frye's books had just taken off.  But I'm wondering now, 10+ years later, does the exam still lean towards Varneys or has it evolved more towards Frye?  I have 6 weeks left to study and want it to be a productive study time!

Might have a few more questions as testing gets nearer.

I've spoken to a couple ladies who have taken it in the last few years.  They recommended Hearts & Hands over all with a little bit of Varney's (I saw in one place someone focused on the "complications" section of Varney's).

I talked to a midwife the other day and she said when she sat for NARM a couple of years back that there were questions on the test that were actual quotes from Hearts and Hands.

Good to know!  Yeah I've been reading and rereading H&H and reviewing my Varneys notes.  Skimming the others on the recommended list.

Hope I'm ready!  I've never done a birth in the USA, all overseas where I live so sitting for an American-practice test is a little daunting!

I had one midwife give me a good reminder that might help ease your mind.  She said to remember that it's an exam for beginning midwives who are practicing OOH.  To read carefully and answer the questions with that in mind.
