Breast feeding problem in 4 month old baby

Hi to all the wonderful mothers out there! I am new to this forum and I am writing with a lot of hope!!! I have 2 daughters - one aged 6 years and the other one a 4.5 months old. Lately I have been facing a lot of stress while breast feeding my younger one mostly when she is awake. Whenever she is hungry, I put her to my breast and after sucking for a few minutes, I don't know what happens but she pulls back and starts crying. To put her back to feed, I have to stand up, rock rock and rock her, pat her back and put her to feed again. This is so tiring and upsetting. She is mostly fine while in sleep so she takes feed peacefully during night. The whole crisis is while she is awake!!!!!!

This had happened when she was around 2 months old but it got better. This time is is worse!!!! Also consulted the lactation consultant at that time. She said that the flow was quite good and I was doing fine. Also showed her to the doctor , however doctor said that she is currently weighing 6.85 kegs which is good for 4 months ...so need not worry !!!!! But this is really stressful for me and breast feeding has turned to be a v tiring and cumbersome job !!!!

Please please please help me out!!!

Thanks
Kriti

My kids sometimes went through periods where if they were too hungry they would start sucking really hard then essentially drown in the milk. I had a very overactive let down and it kind of choked them sometimes. It was easier at night because they weren't nursing as hard so my let down wasn't as fierce.

For us getting bigger solved the problem. I hope yours goes away with time too.

I once heard Dr. Newman speak and he said this sometimes happens around this age because the baby feels the flow is too slow. He recommends Brest compression (do a search). I also think teething might be a possibility.
