Midwife for me too today. My kids have a habit of hiding from the dopler until at least 12 weeks, so for the last two I had early ultrasounds to find them. With Bee the midwifes did an ultrasound guided dopplar and I forunatly put the directions down on the blog so I could tell the midwifes this time (they'd don't have an in office machine. For me it is strait down, than strait towards my toes.
Both got it this time and it was lovely to hear that all is well.
Had a good chat with them too about birth tubs. The rent the Pool in a Box, but it will not fit in my bedroom (where I would like to do thinks). The Mini fits, but not with room to walk around, but they were fine with climbing over the bed if needed. I can buy one (and use it next time) or possibly buy an Pro grade one and sell/barter it to them.
Talked about doulas too. I think they are essential for first timers (I was so glad for mine) and they agree, but for the way I birth, now it would just be a nice extra. I was not going to even look, but Gina Crosley-Corcoran (aka The Feminist Breeder) is local, looks pretty awesome and now has availability for my dates. So we will meet and see. The midwifes know her, were excited by the idea, but very much agreed this is not a "need" (just a really cool want).
Also. The Sequinom fetal DNA in mama's blood test can (not suprisingly) type babies blood. I am Rh Negative, so if baby is too, I can skip the pain in the ass (literally, insurance wise and logistically) shots. Apparently if you have insurance the max co-pay is $25, which is so worth it to me.
I just announced Iggy on Facebook. After basically outting myself yesterday by posting about three car seats on a page.
