Alternatives to baby perfume (Violetas/agua de violeta)?

Can anyone suggest any alternatives to baby perfume--specifically agua de violetas? It's kind of a traditional Cuban thing. I don't use baby perfumes but every time my MIL takes care of my 10-month-old daughter she puts Violetas on her hair and the smell lingers for days, even after I wash her hair. Certain perfumes/colognes make me nauseous or give me headaches for some reason and Violetas is one of them. I hate to make an issue out of it doesn't make me THAT nauseous and because it's a sweet impulse on my MIL's part (and we already have enough differences of opinion on more important baby-related things) so I was thinking of offering her some other yummy-smelling thing to use. Ideas?

I use coconut oil with a few drops of lavendar essential oil on baby's skin and head (when she needs it, which she usually doesn't).  I tend to avoid all perfumes due to the overuse of phlalates in fragrances, but I don't know anything about agua de violetas.  I agree with you though on perfumes giving me a headache.  I actually didn't hire a particular nanny because she wore so much perfume that I was sort of headachy and/or nauseas after our meetings.  I felt bad, but it was a consideration.

At any rate, maybe you could find an essential oil combination that mimics the perfume she likes and then dilute it in coconut oil as a nice rub for the babe post-bath.

Oh my gosh, is that what that is!? Our previous daycare did that and it drove me nuts lol. No real answer for you, but I've been known to put just a dab of essential oil blends on DS occasionally. you just have to be careful which EO see in there. some are probably not safe.
