Codeine cough syrup causing annovulation?

I've been really sick for 5-6 weeks (finally getting a bit better) and have been taking codeine cough syrup 2 teaspoons/night to help with nighttime coughing for that entire time.

Last cycle was my m/c cycle. I didn't seem to ovulate. (No ovulation/follicular pain that I always get). I thought it might be because it was my 1st post-m/c ovulation.

But my current cycle seems to be off too :( I again had no ovulation/follicular pain. I did have my usual EWCM tho. I am 2dpo (per EWCM and opk's), and my temps have not gone up.

I've been ttc for over a year, with 3 losses. During that time, I've never had an annovulatory cycle. I always ovulate. Always have the ovulation/follicular pain. I'm also quite sure I've not taken codeine cough syrup during this time period.

Do you guys think the codeine cough syrup could be to blame?

Thanks!

My cycle seems to screw up anytime I take any form of medication, antibiotics are what I believe caused both of my miscarriages. So, it's possible that the codeine is causing your problem. It's also possible that being sick is causing it. I'm betting your body will get back on track once you're feeling better.

If you still feel the need for a cough medicine, I think Robitussin is an expectorant that TTCers commonly use to produce more fertile CM. So, it might be a good alternative for you.

If you've been severely ill for the past 5-6 weeks, I would be inclined to blame it on the illness rather than the cough syrup.  My cycle always gets off-whack when I've been sick (with or without medications).

Thanks to both of you!  I'm so concerned re the annovulation because I am starting IVIG on cd6 of my next cycle.  Lots of money, and I don't want it be wasted on an annovulation cycle...  I'm stopping all the medication - and hopefully that combined with feeling better will give me a good ovulation next cycle.  So stressful - yet I need to not be stressed!
