What would you say?

My daughter went to a ped office with 5 drs for her first 8 months. The drs were good to great. I was never questioned about my vaxing decision. It was the office staff that made us leave. They were rude and the cnas were horrible. We left after an appointment at 8 months. It took 6 weeks to get her records sent to the new ped instead of the 30 day time frame they have. New office has 4 drs and a great staff. Abbie has seen 2 of the drs and the np. The first dr was great, the np was okay. The second dr (at her 12 month appt) tried to tell me I was going to kill my baby by not vaxing, the internet is full of lies on vaxing and my daughter should be switched to cow's milk because she needs it and breastmilk isn't enough for her at this age (she eats plenty of solids). Should I write a letter to the practice about the dr, talk to the great dr about the sucky one, or just not say anything except that we will not see him again. I feel as though he needs to no belittle mothers who have thoroughly researched the topic. Also, it came just 1.5 weeks after my daughter had a febrile seizure and the ER ped and nurse were not the nicest about her not being vaxed, so I was completely stunned at the appointment. Abbie's 15m appointment is less than a month away and I haven't decided what I am going to do, it anything.

Does she really need to go to the appt? if it's going to be nothing but harassment for you from the dr, don't go.  And write to who is in charge of the practice about your experience.

I would probably just ask for the doctor or NP you do want by name.  This is what i do in places (both the vets office and the dentists) where I have one care provider I prefer over another.  It always works.

She does have to go. She has a febrile seizure if she gets the slightest temp and she is FTT, so I like to have her officially weighed and measured in case CPS ever tries to come. I was a social worker and know how horrible it can be if you are not taking your kids to the dr, even if they are healthy. I think I will tell the office staff that I need a note on her chart that says she is never to see the crappy ped again and she will preferably only see the one we like.  I wish I could "dr shop" and leave whenever I wanted but you have to be careful with a FTT child. The wrong dr would call CPS and have the child in the hospital in no time.

Was she always FTT, or only after she started solids? Also, by any chance, does she have a heart murmur?

She always had trouble gaining weight. I was even told I should supplement by different peds and WIC. Then had a growth spurt, but since her 12 month visit she hasn't gained an ounce, most likely due to her learning to run. She sees a GI in addition to her ped. When we switched ped offices, she was gaining fine.

There are 2 peds in our office and I will only schedule appts with one - the other is completely against non-vaxxers and made that clear when she happened to be the on-call ped the day DD was born and she was making her rounds- saw my chart said "no Hep B" and she flipped out.  So yes, you can select who you wish to see.  If the 'bad' doc comes in - walk out!
