Hi All,

I am a first time mom!

Originally from the West Coast, and raised in a very health concious/hippie environment. While this lends itself to my open minded values, I do not think of myself as laid back. I am def. more of the planner/organized/type A persuasion. DH, raised on the East Coast, is far more spontaneous and free. It was this, and his sense of humor, that I was attracted to the most when we meet almost 9 years ago.

We love to travel - and have had the opportunity to visit Alaska, Puerto Rico, the Carribean, as well as Italy, Europe, Spain and Greece. Our next European trip will be to Ireland and the UK. We would also like to go back to Italy and Greece and spend more time there. Who knows what the future holds or when this might be possible. But a girl can dream?!

We are also big foodies: I was raised vegan/no-sugar but I eat a vegetarian/ minimal sugar/minimal gluten diet now (no allergies, just personal preference). DH was a vegetarian when we for a few years but he eats meat (all natural etc.) and I imagine LO will too. We used to go out to reasutrants a lot more - and while we enjoyed it and it was a big part of our social life - we decided that we did not want toe at the food that is widely available and would rather eat at home. As such, we are trying to cook more. I find I am not the best cook - and DH is a great cook - but I end up doing more of the cooking (more motiviation I think). We enjoy eating international foods, when we do go out and splurge or celebrate a special occasion.

In my free time I practice yoga. I have been taking prental classes since this summer and practicing two years prior to that. I would like to add pilates and mediation to the mix someday. I also enjoy reading fiction and I am always looking for a new good book.

We have two dogs that we rescued. Edgar is 5 years old and a boston terrier/pug mix. Annabelle is 3 years old, a boston terrier/pug/beagle mix, and the queen bee!

HI

Do you work currently.. if so are you going to be a SAHM once LO arrives?

How do you think your animals will react to a baby in the house? have they been around kids before?

CANanny:

I do work outside of the home and will take 3 months off. DH will take an additonal month after that, and then we will start a nanny share.

While I dont know how our dogs will react they are rather nurturing and I imagine, after the adjustment, will be great. They havent been around too many kids - but seem to like the ones they see in the neighborhood. My biggest concern is that (esp. as small dogs) they jump up a lot on people in an effort to say hello!

PS: I grew up in Berkeley and DH and I were living in Oakland this time last yaer (sadly we couldnt stay - our venture to CA living only lasted six months).

Did you go wild with sugar/meat when you moved out of your parents house?

While I have tasted meat I never liked the texture and don't have any interest in eating it.

Eating lots of sugar is something I started doing at a young age. In fact, I can clearly remember my first lie to my mother being about a piece of gum. While well intentioned her strict diet totally backfired. I bought lots of french fries and sugary treats as a teenager. It probably wasnt until after college that I decided to eat healthier.

I admit that I have always had guilt around food (thanks in pat to my mom being a total health nut) - and it presented itself during this pregnancy. DH and I had a great conversation over the weekend about our food choices and needing to be realistic. We shall see what happens, particularly as LO starts to eat solid foods later.
