maternity clothes? - Page 2

I've found all my maternity clothes at Goodwill.  Spent $26 on 5 pairs of pants and a sweater.  My favorite pants are from motherhood maternity and are linen (wish they were a touch warmer)  and sit low with an elastic (but not band) waist.  They're soooooo comfy.  I did buy one pair of brown pinstripe pants from target but they're full panel and I'm not sure I'll end up wanting the full panel so I haven't cut the tags off just yet.  They were clearance so $18ish which isn't terrible.  Cannot recommend Goodwill enough!  So far my regular shirts are working fine but I'm not huge yet and I can see some of them look a bit short for my tastes.  I love the tamis from Old Navy though.  They're nice and long, super comfortable, and stretchy.  They're about $10 each and I wore them pre-preggo and they've accamodated the belly so far and my 'up at least a cup size' boobs without having to change sizes.

I wish Goodwill was that "good" here!  I've had no luck with finding maternity in my size there thus far (but have to admit I haven't made dedicated searches at all the locations).  But I do love Goodwill.  I have a bit of an addiction to buying wool sweaters for crafting and I have to resist going in to look at stuff when I do drop offs at the donation centre.  I have way too many already!

Goodwill is a thrift store. Target is a big store that sells everything from clothes, to toys to groceries and cosmetics.

Well, I have my first maternity clothes on the way to me. This is baby number three and I have never bought new maternity clothes before. I wear dresses or skirts normally, so I'm still managing with a couple of dresses and one skirt (that is 4 sizes bigger than I normally wear) that still fit. Apparently, I got rid of all my large non-maternity jumpers that I wore with babies #1 and #2. So, I broke down and ordered some stuff from Old Navy. My sister loaned me quite a few maternity tops, but they are all so much too big on me that I have to find shirts to wear under them which is kind of un-handy.

As for availability of maternity clothes locally, the only option here is thrift stores. An hour to a Target or Motherhood or Old Navy. Incidentally, all the maternity stuff from Old Navy that I liked was online only. You know, because now that your shape is changing daily, that's the perfect time for buying without trying on, right?

Now that Walmart carries nursing bras, I wonder why they don't have maternity?

I just picked up a couple knit stretchy pencil skirts on clearance ($6) at old navy and thought I'd pass it on.  They fit under my belly and since they are stretchy should be fine and work well for after baby comes too!  I love things that do double duty!

I found the blog post I was looking for: http://walkingwithdancers.blogspot.com/2012/03/looking-good-while-pregnant.html

Incidently, the rest of that mama's blog is pretty great too. She had a successful homebirth/VBAC last year and her blog is full of healthy pregnancy ideas.

LOVE this post, and her blog! It was super helpful to me!

I've been doing a lot of fitted thigh-length dresses with leggings and boots or flats, and sweaters/scarves/necklaces. It's working well.

I'm excited for the warmer weather though, it'll be so nice to have some more flexibility in wardrobe choices and not always have to worry about the cold!

Skinny jeans:
My jeans and dresspants from Motherhood have all been smalls and mediums. However I had to go with extra-small for skinny jeans to get some that were tight enough! I also went with longs as I have long legs and a short torso.

Fancy dresses:
DH has a formal work party coming up, so I rented a dress from http://borrowforyourbump.com/ . I used the sizes chart and ordered a Small (size 1) and it fits great! It's probably the 1 time I'll wear a dress this winter, so I was happy to rent rather than buy.
