Story in a nutshell: I was leaking water since the 9th. On the 12th I had a little gush, so we called the MW and asked her to come for the night. Ctx started up about 10pm and I was able to sleep and incorporate them into my dreams till a big one woke me up around 3am. My dad picked up the 4 and 1yo right away in the morning, and the 8 and 7yo stayed quietly downstairs while I labored gently till noon. I was alone till that point, but called my husband up while I moaned softly through ctx for an hour. I had him call up the MW in case things got pushy, since I go fast at that point. My water broke with a pop and a flood (wouldn't have had to worry about all the leaking) about 1:15pm and it took a few ctx to get the head out. At that point the MW got insistent that I turn from all fours onto my side because his head wasn't turning and she could tell his hand was by his neck and the shoulders were stuck. She got both of her hands inside me and turned him, pulling his arms out one by one and I was finally able to push the rest out. I'm amazed it didn't hurt a lot more than it did. When she told me what she had to do, I couldn't believe it. BUT, he's here, he's well, and all I have is a very small tear toward the back. It is SO nice to be done and holding my baby!!!

I'm so impressed with your midwife.  Your story is a great example of a birth that might have had a much worse outcome in a hospital.  You never know what might have been of course.  Congratulations and good job!

Yes, I love how our MW handles things. She doesn't show any panic, but gets a real "take control" voice and tells me what I need to do if things get iffy. I had one other baby with a hand by his face that needed a bit of help... just not this scary. I'm so glad she made it to this birth... my husband had to deliver two of our boys when she couldn't make it in time.
