I chose to homeschool because I want the best for my children. The unanticipated benefit has been that homeschooling is best for our whole family.

post #145 of 5941/17/13 at 2:36amHomeschooling has been the default educational choice in our family since before they were born...our reasons are many!
Perfect timing for the contest; we delay formal academics longer than most and have decided to start with a packaged curriculum for the first time.post #146 of 5941/17/13 at 4:46amWe love to Homeschool! Homeschooling allows us to teach our children at there level, and in there own way! As each child is special, and each child is different! So how can we expect each child to learn the same by teaching them in the same ways! Homeschooling has given us the ability to be a closer family, and experience life in a whole new and exciting way!
post #147 of 5941/17/13 at 4:48amWhy Homeschool? We Homeschool for so many reasons, but I would have to say that the best reason would be for the absolute freedom that it gives us as a family. My Children are able to explore what they want when they want. They are not afraid to ask questions and find out answers. We have the freedom to be inspired for however long that inspiration lasts. The freedom to be who they want to be at any given moment. We have the freedom to travel at anytime to explore many different places and we have the options to be involved in many opportunities that come our way. Homeschooling for us is more than just an education, for our family it has become a way of life.

I already like Oak Meadow and Mothering on facebook!
I homeschool because I love being with and learning with my children!
post #151 of 5941/17/13 at 7:18amHomeschooling feels like an extension of the way that we've chosen to parent from the very beginning. I think that it will allow us the opportunity (and time!) to stay connected with our children and to ensure that their learning environment is caring, loving, and conducive to fostering a true love of learning.
post #152 of 5941/17/13 at 8:23amIt is a way for us to step outside of comparisons, to be together celebrating daily our uniqueness individually and as a family. We can share an umbrella on a rainy day gathering walk or snuggle under blankets to read together. Each moment and activity can further support my children's learning process and learning style. I cherish the gift of being intimately involved and intentionally intuned with them as I learn along-side them.
post #153 of 5941/17/13 at 8:52amI homeschool because my son was abused in public school. Special needs children are often more difficult to instruct and control, and there are not enough teachers equipped with the skills to correctly handle issues that arise. My son was overstimulated by the florescent lighting, the busy walls and storage areas, the loud noises and distractions that come with being in a classroom with 21 other children or in a cafeteria with 200 other children, and the teachers and administration just weren't able to handle his meltdowns in an appropriate manner. Some children just can not sit down, shut up, and get in line like good little soldiers and I absolutely refuse to let my child be driven to breaking point. We learn in calm atmospheres: in the park, by the lake, sprawled out on the floor, whatever! We learn by connecting real life to knowledge - that's something that rarely happens in a public school environment.

Why Homeschool?
I hope to homeschool my daughter, she is almost 4, but I work full time and so does my husband. I really really want to homeschool and I would love to not spend almost 10 hours away from our house every day, but how we can do this is a paradox to me. I would love to try.

we home school for so many reasons.... the biggest reason would be so that our kids have the opportunity to grow into themselves uninhibited by the unhealthy socialization that can be experienced in schools, such as bullying. we also want them to have the time to explore and learn where their interests lie, how great would it be for them to have jobs they love doing something they love! the bonuses are being together, the relationships we have, the love of learning they have because what they learn is tailored to them, the flexibility (learning is life, it doesn't get in the way!)...i could go on and on.

post #159 of 5941/17/13 at 8:57amWe homeschool because it allows my boys the freedom to go at their own pace, and learn in their own way. We can pursue the things that interest them and incorporate it into all the other aspects of their education. It also allows me the opportunity to be with my children as they are growing, valuable time I would miss if they were in public school.
