To be able to nourish your child's passions with flexibility of schedule and opportunities unavailable in other schooling methods, honing in on those skills and endeavours that most interest the child, and helping to guide them to be who they've come here to be; to teach them to be life-long learners and, above all, to follow their hearts.

I homeschool my youngest because he is a child with learning differences and I feel that those differences are best met at home and with smaller groups of children than public school is able to provide. I am able to have time to provide support for him privately without interfering with his extracurricular activities. Homeschooling has been an amazing journey:)

"Why homeschool?"
Some things in life can't be measured. There are no standardized tests for compassion, self discipline, critical thinking, motivation, creativity....
With home school my child explores, learns and ultimately grows in each of these disciplines as well as the academic. I am right there learning and growing along side her. I home school because I desire for my children to view learning as a life long pursuit, not something done 5 days a week from 8-3. I home school because who they are is and what they'll become is even more important than a score on a test. I home school because life should not be institutionalized, imagination held captive, nor the final product judged by what others view as important.

Why homeschool?
I love spending all day with my son, he's my best friend. I love that I can choose what he gets to learn, based on our personal beliefs and what I feel is a priority, and I also love that he is safe with me :)

We chose homeschooling because we wanted to grow together as a family unit. We are hoping that our children will become closer as they are learning together. We also want to be more involved in our children's education.

post #211 of 5941/21/13 at 3:47pmWe want to homeschool because my husband and I feel like we can provide our children with a much better education than if we sent them to public school. We also look forward to the flexibility homeschooling is going to allow for our children when learning.
post #212 of 5941/21/13 at 3:56pmwe are going to start homeschooling this next school year (2013-2014) with my daughter. I have chosen to homeschool because i feel it will be safer and also i feel that kids learn better with hands on then from sitting in a desk looking at a book all day long! And plus we are a vegan family and i feel public (at least in our area of TN) that she would be picked on for this and made the odd kid out. SHARED ON MY FACEBOOK!

Why homeschool?
My son is a wonderful little boy that deserves the best education, so we plan on giving it to him! We want to give him an earth based education, full of one on one time and enriching experiences. Homeschooling is the only way to accomplish this! The bonus is that his daddy and I get to spend 8 hours a day with him instead of sending him away. Since his father works from home, its a win-win! Everyone gets to spend a ton of quality time together!
post #217 of 5941/21/13 at 4:14pmWhy Homeschool?
We originally decided to homeschool because we did not like the strict academic focus at such a young age in the public school. We have fallen in love with homeschooling because of the freedom of time. The kids have time and ability to follow their passions for as long as the ride takes them. I see them developing much deeper and intense interests that I am hoping will follow them throughout their life.

post #219 of 5941/21/13 at 4:21pmI would love to homeschooling my kids because I would get to spend more time with them, make sure that they are getting to spend enough time outside and have that ranching background and I have always thought it would be amazing to be able to teach my children.post #220 of 5941/21/13 at 4:26pmWe are choosing to homeschool because it gives my daughter the freedom to learn in an environment where she is secure and free to be herself. We want to pick our pace, our interests and have more freedom for extracurricular activitiesReturn HomeBack to Forum: Learning at Home and Beyond- Enter to Win a Homeschool Curriculum and Gift Basket from Oak Meadow!
