I homeschool, quite simply, because I am my child's best teacher and our home is the best environment in which my child can learn.

I love homeschooling my two children for the freedom it gives them, myself, and enables us all to learn/teach to the best of our abilities and not be put in boxes.

Why? Because I want my children to feel safe as they learn, so they know the joy of learning without fear of being punished or mocked. Because I want them to wake each day more excited for the day's adventure than the day before. Because I want them to associate school with adventure, not drudgery. Because I want them to be in a plane where respect and love are as important as a school book, and that place is our home.post #46 of 5951/16/13 at 2:10pmWhy homeschool?
Homeschooling recently became a reality for us. Our oldest child is six and was diagnosed with high functioning autism about four years ago. He is now at the age where he is expected to sit in a desk at school all day, take standardized tests, and follow group activities. None of these are really an option for him. He is a very intelligent boy but he needs more one on one instruction and attention. At least right now. Homeschooling then became the best option for him. We just started a couple weeks ago and he is already showing some improvements in his behavior. I am lucky enough to be able to be at home with him and I feel the stars have aligned for us, giving us this beautiful opportunity to teach him and care for him with a Waldorf inspired curriculum. His younger brother attends a Waldorf school which is perfect for him, but my oldest is thriving being at home and that is his perfect environment. I am enjoying this time with him.

I homeschool because I want my children to have a unique education experience. And...I just like being with them.

I shared this on my FB page, too.
post #50 of 5951/16/13 at 2:17pmWe want to homeschool our children for several reasons. First of all, I do not believe in everything they teach in the classroom. Some people believe in evolution, I do not. I also do not agree with the way that history is depicted.
I want my children to have one on one time with me to learn and get the attention they need. Classrooms have too large of a student to teacher ratio and seem too constricting. Some things require longer amounts of time to be studied, while others can be taught quickly.
I want their schooling to be flexible, encourage imagination, creative thinking, and to have fun while doing it. The children will get plenty of interaction between church, play dates, Sabbath school, and homeschooling groups so that is not a concern for me.
Overall, I think the experience is much more rewarding for both parent and child to homeschool.post #51 of 5951/16/13 at 2:18pmHomeschooling with Oak Meadow will allow me to foster my daughter's natural inclinations with an individualized learning experience so that she can learn at the pace that is best for her. I believe homeschooling would offer us the opportunity to encourage and fuel her creativity while enabling her to retain her sense of wonder, inspiration, and enthusiasm for the world. Most importantly, I would like for her to feel she is an active participant in her own education so that she will develop into a lifelong learner.

"Why homeschool?"???
Well I want to homeschool because my 3rd child is having a hard time in school. She used to LOVE school, which is why we never homeschooled before, but this year is not good. The teacher is teaching for the state test and not for enrichment of the children. My daughter is is begging for more and is not getting it, it is not happening when I ask either. So we will homeschool her as soon as this school year is over. She will be in the 4th grade and will be my first homeschooled child (my 6th and 9th grader LOVE school and are thriving so we will keep them where they are). My 4 year old currently LOVES her preschool and we will see where we are next year.
So overall "why homeschool?", because it is right for my child.

Why homeschool? To meet their individual needs. To bring art and music into their lives. To include travel as curriculum. To celebrate the seasons through our education. To allow them to learn at their own pace. To allow them to follow their own interests.

Creating an environment specific for your child's needs. Encouraging a safe learning environment, with free and open dialogue. Engaging with your child on a personal level and acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses.

Why homeschool? Why not? Learning at our pace, time to pursue individual passion and time together as a family.post #58 of 5951/16/13 at 2:24pmI homeschool because of the bible verse that says all wisdom begins with the fear of God. I want to impress upon my children the love of Jesus....and to spend as much time with them as I possible can before the are grown!
Something I will never forget!
