How did you meet your DH?  I know you have mentioned that there is a large age difference (what is it?)... and that people were against your union early in your relationship.  How did you get through that? What finally (do you think) brought people around?

What are the major differences you've noticed between being pregnant with your twins and being pregnant with your DS?   What was your DH's reaction to the twins news?  (Was he at your appointment with you when you found out the news?)

So sorry ladies! Busy morning with lots of appointments!

Jodie- we met through mutual friends/on an online forum for one of our favorite bands. We had a long distance thing going for about 6 months before I decided to relocate to TX where he is from. There is an 8 year age difference and it caused a ton of friction with my family (my dad especially).
I'm not sure I would say that we are through it yet. His family is a lot more accepting of me now, but my family isn't. My father has refused to meet him (although that might change soon when the twins are born), and my mother refuses to get to know him or be nice around him. It is really, really frustrating! Luckily my family is 18 hours away, so there isn't a lot of opportunities for everyone to be together.

Chapsie- I was way more tired in the beginning, but just chalked it up to having a toddler to chase around. Backaches are obviously a bit more of an issue this time around, too. But really, this pregnancy has been super easy. Way different than what I expected.
DH and I were both completely shocked when we found out it was twins. He was with me at the appointment (thank god). I think he was scared shitless, but he did a really good job at supporting me emotionally. It was a whirlwind for both of us for a good few weeks, but he kept telling me how exciting this was and had me looking on the bright side.

I guess one other thing is that I am way more emotional this pregnancy and have had a few times where I don't want to be pregnant anymore. I don't remember feeling that way so much with DS.

Given how you met each other, what kind of music do you like? What other things do you like to do for fun?

8 years doesn't actually seem like that big of a difference to me (my cousin recently married someone 20+ years older than her - THAT seems like a lot :)). How old were you when you met him? I am sorry your family is having such trouble accepting him!

Hi!

How does your little one feel about the 2 new siblings on the way?

chocolatechip- I like a whole mix of different music. Indie/Alternative/Folk mostly, but I'm game for anything besides jazz. We met through Tegan and Sara (canadian band). We are also huge hockey fans!
I love running, reading, and crafting as well!

cocoanib- He is excited for the babies to come home, but I'm not sure he totally gets it either. He is a total love bug and I think (and hope!) he will love the babies.

I see you crochet!  That dress was so so very cute.  I loved it!

What is your craft life like?  What types of crafts do you like? What projects have you done lately? What is on your "to do" list?

Thank you so much, Jodie!!
Crocheting is my main craft. I love sewing but I am not great at it. I really, really want to make a quilt. I'm sure I will have to wait a few years before I have the time twins.gif

What is your favorite childhood memory? :D

What type of personality does your son have?

Favorite childhood memory...I swam competitively from the age of 8-18. It was literally my entire life. I don't have a specific memory, but definitely running around with my friends during swim meets made me the happiest.

My son is a HUGE goofball. He laughs all day, everyday. He is also such a sweetheart. He is my little cuddle buddy and a total mommy's boy. He totally brightens my day (even when he is driving me crazy!)

He sounds like a sweetie.

Has your son made any comments about what he expects after baby comes? My son was convinced if this baby was a boy, it would walk out and want to play trains with him, so he was obviously disapointed that he was going to have another sister. He has no memory of his sister being tiny, so it's fun to figure out what he thinks will happen.

He is already planning on them playing trains and blocks with them. I have tried to explain that they are going to be very little for a while, but that eventually they will play with him. I keep mentioning ways they can interact together (cuddles, kisses, snuggles) and that he can help me feed them and give them baths and pick out their clothes. He seems to be excited about that stuff!

What are you most afraid of when it comes to having twins (pregnancy, birth or after)? This is linnaea, btw hug.gif
post #18 of 34

I'm really not scared of anything regarding the pregnancy (finding out it was twins was scary, though!!!!) because the babies are both growing so well.
I am scared that Baby A is going to turn back to breech and I won't even get to attempt a vaginal birth. I am honestly terrified of a c-section.
Afterwards, I am scared that I won't have enough time between two newborns and DS. It has been DS and me for 2.5 years. It is going to be an adjustment to say the least!
I'm also scared financially, but I'm trying not to focus on that right now.

I am also terrified of a C/S.

I've really tried to read up on what I would want in this situation, mostly to calm my fears and figure out which ones are irrational and which ones I will need to get past. There was a nice article on the main page of mothering talking about keeping babies in the room during and after the C/S and allowing some skin-to-skin time. I'm actually going to make a birth plan and tuck it into my "just in case" hospital bag for that situation. I'm also planning to make my husband very aware of the request (He will read the article) and my MW who will become a doula in the event of an emergency transfer. I think having the information and a plan in place will make it less of a horrible experience as long as my reasonable requests are honored.

It's hard to face the scary stuff, but have you brought up the what-if scenarios with your OB?
