like pregnancy-related, but I was hoping that was passing...).

Anyhow- I am fighting fire with fire as much as I can. I've neti potted 3 times today, I've taken 1000 mg (well, 1 g, I guess) vitamin C about every 2 hours, had three huge mugs of chamomile with lemon and honey, and took a long nap with DS this afternoon. I also did an Ayurvedic healing technique called oil pulling, if any of y'all are familiar. Basically I swished coconut oil in my mouth for 20 min before spitting it in the toilet. It is supposed to have marvelous short and long-term effects (it always whitens my teeth immediately!), but I have only done it a few times so can't attest to long-term. I also have a cotton ball with peppermint oil that I swab under my nose when my nose gets a bit foggy. Anyway, not sure what has done the trick or if it all has, but my sore throat is significantly better tonight, my breathing clearer, and my head has stopped pounding. Still going to keep it up until I'm well. I need to remember to do more of this stuff on a maintenance basis so I don't GET so sick.

I love my neti pot too!  I also have done oil pulling, but I didn't like it with coconut oil so did sesame oil.  I was doing it pretty regularly for a while, but then stopped, maybe I should start it up again.  Right now I'm just having lots of hot fluids (herbal tea and chickpea-miso soup) and it seems to be helping.

I count 2nd trimester as 13 weeks. I'm 12w3d now and I strangely do feel like it's going by quickly. Even though I've been a worried, paranoid basket case, it still really has flown by. :-)

Me too!

So the free standing birth center/diaper store where DS was born moved to a much nicer location and they had an open house on Sunday that we went to.  I got a sneak peak last week because my midwife has appointments there one day a week, but I wanted to congratulate the owner and celebrate and all that.  And I won a Boba Air carrier!  Woot!  I never win anything, that was a nice surprise!

It's strange. Sometimes I think- wow! 13 weeks already?! Other times I'm like: yep, I have felt every nauseating minute of this pregnancy.

Harmie, I hope you can find some peace soon with all your anxiety. I guess one of the alleged silver linings of constant and severe nausea/vomiting is that I am never anxious about miscarrying. In fact, if you explore the dark side of our HG thread, some of us have, in our drooliest, sickest, most worn down moments wondered if we have the physical and emotional stamina to carry on with our pregnancies at all. Pregnancy certainly seems to do a mind job on just about everyone, regardless of what symptoms you do or don't have. In any case, I hope the coming second tri and the visible growth of your little one will ease your mind and heart.

I am in second tri and jealous of second tri! Where is this fantasy realm where sleep is peaceful and nausea ceases? Cue Big Rock Candy Mountain... smile.gif but seriously so happy to be one week closer- every single week! But when you've had your baby and I'm 43 weeks pregnant, expect tears. smile.gif

Yep! I noticed it yesterday!

I have been too. You are doing amazingly well for what you've been through :)

12 weeks isn't nearly as exciting as I thought it would be, particularly since I welcomed it hunched over the sink, vomiting stomach acid - AGAIN. I think I'm partially worried by how fast this is going. How can I possibly be ready to give birth (again!!!) when I'm still sooo sick and miserable?! Surely somewhere in the next 26-28 weeks I'll get a break, right?

I'm horribly exhausted, too. This is definitely rough. But my MW says I get to see her soon, so that's a plus.

Hi girls, just a quick check-in. I work from home very part time. Before I got pregnant, I would get up before everyone else to get my work done (like 5-7 am). It was great. But now I have my first real deadline looming and there's NO WAY I can do the get up early thing. I can barely make it through the day waking up with the kids at 7 (or even later, recently). So I've been a bit of a stress case, actually. Both of our families are local, but my folks work full time and DH's folks come with strings attached, so... It's just been hard finding child care to allow me to get my work done. (Let alone do anything important like checking in on MDC! smile.gif). I keep telling myself that in another couple of weeks, I'll start having more energy and maybe I can wake up early again. Right? RIGHT?!?!

Anyway, that's all a long way of saying that I've beeeen reading and following you all, even if I can't post. I hope everyone is doing well. Congrats to the second tri ladies. I still have 2.5 weeks until I'm at the 13 week wend-of-first-tri marker. Can't wait!

Thread Starter

Husband gets 20 days of heavily subsidised daycare a year through work, so the kids went there today and I finally got our house looking like it has no place on horders. Not clean, but so very much better.

My insurance pregnancy calendar has the first and third trimester as having 12 weeks, and all the rest being the lovely second. It seemed kindest. That said, my first tri lasts until I start to feel better at 16 weeks, so at 11 weeks, I still have a long way to go.

I found out the birth tub my midwife rents will not fit in my bedroom, and since I would prefer to birth there I am on the hunt. Any one use the Pool in the Box Mini or La Bassine?

I'm so right there with you, Heather. I welcomed 13 weeks with a morning (and afternoon!) vomi-sode and was like SERIOUSLY?!

Right now it is 2 am and thanks to a combination of post-nasal drip and starving, angry fetus syndrome conspiring against me, I am up making hard-boiled eggs (per FarmerCathy) and cheese toast.

I want to feel sorry for myself, but I see how we're all doing ridiculous stop-gappy-type measures in our lives and I just want to laugh or cry. Not sure which.

Also speaking of crying, I cried about 10 times during the inauguration today. I know I was moved, but this was a lot even for me! Confession: I always tear up at the Star Spangled Banner. And Beyonce's version just sent me over the edge. Geez- what a crybaby! wink1.gif

Hey Ladies, I am new here and thought I'd hop in on the chat. I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my first child today!  No morning sickness here. I feel so awful the some of you are having such a rough time. I have been having horrible headaches that don't go away for hours upon hours though.

I lean more toward the natural side of everything and baby center was just not the place for me.  I love reading stuff from you ladies that are already mommies. Experienced advice is always the best. belly.gif

Your supposed to make them before you go to sleep. lol.gif  I hope they help.  I got up last night and had a deviled egg and slept and didn't get up until 7:30 or so.  It's so nice when I actually get up and eat something instead of being lazy.  orngtongue.gif  I went right to sleep after I had the egg.

Just so tired.  So glad I don't have nausea like y'all do.  I don't know how I'd manage.  Freaked out as I am of puking.  Haven't yet this pregnancy, didn't last pregnancy.  I think the last time I puked was about 2008 when I took vicodin.

Met a nurse last night that is the wife of one of my husbands co-workers.  She works in the hospital where the OB is that I'm going to see this Friday.  That is how rural our area is, the doctors offices are in the hospital.  So convenient for them, though I'd rather not go into a hospital more than I have too, but it beats driving an hour and a half in labor.

I had my NT scan this morning and everything looks great! NT measurement was 1.6 mm, which is good, I believe. I'll get bloodwork results back for the NT as well as the MaterniT21 this coming week. :-) Here's a picture of our little one:

Hooray, coffeebean! That is perfectly good NT measurement from my research smile.gif Was he or she moving around lots? It's so fascinating to see them in there - I love seeing them jump around smile.gif

Yes, he/she kept doing that cute little jump where they bounce off the sac and don't go very far. Baby kept wanting to curl up like in the picture but the tech wanted him/her more stretched out for the measurement, so we got an extra-long ultrasound. It was awesome. :-) When is your scan? Coming up in the next few weeks, right?
I'm glad the scan went well, and that you're excited about seeing the baby, coffeebean smile.gif

I feel like a bit of drag lately, like my life is kind of trying right now and If I post about it, I'm just going to bring everyone down. Everyone is so happy about their first appointments or still feeling sick, so who wants that?! I guess I'll just say that I'd like to feel a little better both physically and emotionally. I can't wait until the next 2 weeks is over. This first trimester stuff is for the birds. greensad.gif

But I am enjoying all your posts about pregnant life smile.gif

Well I didn't know to take your advice until I was frantically staring into the refrigerator! Have 3 made up for tonight though.

I'd eat one now, but I didn't keep anything down from dinner. I am having a hard time sleeping, despite being tired though.

I typically rate throwing up right down there with death of things I like to do. But I guess I'm starting to get used to it. That's sad. I hate it, it scares me, and I cry about half the time, but it's starting to just be...

Wow, even I feel super sorry for me now!

Aww, hugs to you Banana, I hope things start looking up for you soon. flowersforyou.gif  But you shouldn't feel afraid to post about negative stuff too, I'd like to think we can all console and cry and celebrate together here.
