Sibling gifts

Hi all-

we went the other day to let the girls pick out a few little presents for the baby (just cute little stuffed toys).

I have been getting these ready for the girls though.  I am pretty excited.  They are more to keep them occupied, but at the same time I love the idea of the girls getting something too, not just gifts from other people to the baby.  Last time I had a bunch of gifts wrapped up for DD1 just in case someone came by with something for the baby but forgot about her.  This time I have not done that, since I have 2 now, but at least they will get something and hopefully feel good about it.  They are personalized bags (thanks MIL!), with coloring books, books, markers etc and a magnetic story board.  There will also be a blanket for their dolls that match the one MIL is making the baby and a shirt that says big sister.... those are still being made.  I was just so excited that I had to share.... DH never cares about this stuff.

Ah, that brings me to tears! I was thinking I should get a little something for my boys (like an angry bird related toy they are clamoring for) but those tote bags are AMAZING! Makes me want to hit up my mom to do a similar thing, as she makes bags and is very talented at the sewing machine. DH and I didn't get anything for DS1 when DS2 was born, and only thought about it right afterward, but my sister came through with some very excited trains for him :).

Those are awesome. Last time we gave dd a corolle doll, so this time we gave her another one to make twins, and I gave here a boogie board, which IMO is kinda like a modern day etch a sketch. She loved it.

aww! love the bags!

I have no plans for my kids this time around (well, other than that they will be taken care of and entertained when the baby comes ;) )  .. i don't expect many people to be here giving anything to the baby or paying attention to him and not them.. (everyone who will be visiting would know to give equal attention to the kids)  ..

Those are lovely!

Love it! I have a few little gifts collected to parcel out to DS as needed. I wish he liked dolls though...the few he has go completely unplayed with. Maybe after baby is born he'll be more interested?

The bags are great!  A few of my co-workers were thoughtful and bough my older DD a few things.  I have them stashed in the closet to pull out when baby comes.  They have 2 or more kids so I guess they know what it can be like. smile.gif

Wow.. I didn't even think of this.  This is baby number three for our family.  My oldest Violet (6), is just a smidge on the autism spectrum, and we spent time preparing her for her sister with social stories and making sure she understood a change was coming.  This time, our youngest, Ophelia (4) is SO SO excited for her brothers arrival - we have slacked.  Violet is aware of her brother coming and is starting to get into it but we haven't gotten gifts outside of new big sister shirts and little brother shirts.

Hmm... sibling gifts..  Ill think about this.
